**🍜 Must-Try Local Dishes** Start with a bowl of hand-pulled beef noodles at Lao Zhang's Noodle House (45 Minzu Road, around 20 RMB). Another favorite is lamb skewers from the night market stalls on Renmin Street, where three skewers cost about 10 RMB. Don't miss the steamed dumplings at Tianjin Dumpling Shop (12 Heping Alley, open 7 AM to 8 PM, 15 RMB for a plate of 12). **🏮 Top Restaurants** For a sit-down meal, try the family-run Golden Dragon Restaurant (88 Chaoyang Street, mains 40-80 RMB, open 11 AM to 9 PM). Their braised pork belly is a standout. Another reliable choice is the Silk Road Cafe (22 Silk Road, near the main square), which serves hearty lamb pilaf and fresh naan for around 50 RMB per person. **🌃 Street Food Stalls** The best street food clusters around the night market on Xinhua Street, open daily from 6 PM to midnight. Look for the grilled flatbread stall (3 RMB each) and the spicy potato skewers (5 RMB). For daytime snacks, the morning market on Tuanjie Road (6 AM to 11 AM) offers fresh yogurt and fried dough sticks for under 10 RMB. **🍢 Local Snacks and Bites** Pick up a bag of roasted sunflower seeds from Uncle Li's cart at the corner of Wenhua Road and Jiefang Street (5 RMB per bag). The candied fruit skewers sold near the primary school on Zhongshan Road are a hit with locals (4 RMB each). Also try the fried potato cakes from the stall outside the bus station, open from 7 AM to 7 PM, two for 6 RMB. **🍵 Tea Houses and Desserts** Sip traditional milk tea at the Old Town Tea House (15 Shifu Lane, open 10 AM to 10 PM), where a pot for two costs 30 RMB and comes with complimentary snacks. For something sweet, the bakery on Guangming Street sells fresh egg tarts for 5 RMB each, and the nearby dessert shop offers mango sago for 12 RMB. **💰 Budget Eating Tips** A typical street meal costs 10-20 RMB, while restaurant mains range from 30-60 RMB. The cheapest eats are found at the morning market on Tuanjie Road, where you can fill up for under 15 RMB. Many stalls offer discounts after 8 PM, so plan a late dinner to save a few yuan. **🕒 Best Times to Eat** Breakfast is best between 7 and 9 AM at the morning market, when everything is fresh. Lunch crowds hit restaurants around noon, so arrive by 11:30 AM to snag a table. The night market comes alive after 6 PM, but the busiest stalls peak around 8 PM, so go early for shorter lines. **🚌 Getting Around** Most food spots are within walking distance in the city center, but you can take bus 3 or 5 to reach the night market on Xinhua Street (2 RMB per ride). Taxis start at 8 RMB and are easy to hail, though traffic can be heavy around dinner time. For a scenic route, rent a bike from the station on Renmin Road for 10 RMB per hour.
