**🏰 Explore DMZ Sites** Paju is the closest city to the DMZ, and the Third Tunnel of Aggression (open 9:00 to 17:00, closed Mondays) offers a surreal walk underground; book the shuttle from Imjingak Park, where you can also see the Bridge of Freedom. The Dorasan Observatory provides binocular views into North Korea, and the nearby Dorasan Station symbolizes hopes for reunification. For a quieter experience, visit the Unification Village, where locals farm ginseng and rice in the shadow of the border. **🎨 Discover Art and Culture** Heyri Art Valley is a sprawling creative village with over 40 galleries, museums, and cafes, including the popular Trick Eye Museum and the Lee Sang-beom Art Museum. Wander through the architecturally unique buildings and catch a live performance at the Heyri Outdoor Theater. Just a short drive away, the Paju Book City is a haven for bibliophiles, with independent bookstores and the Asia Publication Culture Center. **🌸 Enjoy Seasonal Blooms** From late March to early April, the Gyeonggi English Village in Paju hosts a cherry blossom festival with rows of trees and family-friendly activities. In autumn, the Paju Imjingak Peace Park transforms with golden ginkgo trees and reed fields, perfect for photography. The annual Paju Chrysanthemum Festival in October at the Paju Agricultural Technology Center showcases stunning floral displays. **🍜 Taste Local Flavors** Paju is famous for its spicy fish stew (maeuntang), and the restaurants around Imjingak, such as the Imjingak Maeuntang Village, serve hearty versions with fresh river fish. For a taste of North Korean-style cold noodles, try the Naengmyeon restaurants near the DMZ, like the Paju Naengmyeon Jip, where the broth is tangy and refreshing. Don't miss the local ginseng products at the Unification Village market, including ginseng honey and tea. **🚌 Navigate with Ease** Paju is easily accessible from Seoul via subway Line 1 to Paju Station or by bus from Seoul Station (about 1 hour). Within Paju, the city bus system connects major attractions, but taxis are more convenient for DMZ tours; expect to pay around 20,000 to 30,000 won for a half-day taxi tour. For cycling enthusiasts, rent a bike at Imjingak Park and ride along the peaceful riverside paths. **🛍️ Shop Unique Finds** The Paju Premium Outlet is a shopper's paradise with over 200 brands at discounted prices, open daily from 10:30 to 21:00. For something more local, browse the Heyri Art Valley's craft shops for handmade ceramics and jewelry. The Paju Book City's bookstores often host author signings and sell limited-edition prints. **🌳 Relax in Nature** The Paju Three Royal Tombs (Samneung) offer a serene escape with well-preserved Joseon dynasty tombs and forest trails, open from 9:00 to 18:00 with free admission. For a longer hike, head to Gamak Mountain, where the 2-hour trail rewards you with panoramic views of the Han River. The Paju Ecological Park is another peaceful spot, with wetlands and birdwatching opportunities. **🎬 Visit Film Locations** Paju is a popular filming location for Korean dramas and movies, and the Paju English Village was featured in the hit drama 'Goblin'. Fans can tour the village and even participate in English-themed activities. The MBC Dramia, a large-scale outdoor set, is also nearby, though it's currently closed for renovations; check for reopening in 2026.
