**🚕 Taxi Services and Scams** Official prepaid taxis from the airport counter cost around PKR 1,500 to 2,500 to most city center hotels. Beware of touts offering rides outside the arrivals hall; they often charge double or take longer routes. Always use the official counter or ride-hailing apps like Careem or Uber for transparent pricing. **🚗 Ride-Hailing Apps** Careem and Uber operate 24/7 from the airport. Pickup is from the designated ride-hailing zone near the parking area. A trip to Clifton or Saddar costs PKR 800 to 1,500 depending on traffic. Book inside the terminal to avoid surge pricing. **🚌 Airport Bus Service** The Karachi Airport Bus (KAB) runs from the airport to key stops like Tower and Saddar. Tickets are PKR 200 per person, and the journey takes 45-60 minutes. Buses depart every 30 minutes from 6 AM to 10 PM. Look for the blue and white buses outside the domestic arrivals area. **🚇 Upcoming Metro Link** The Green Line metro extension to the airport is expected to open in late 2026. It will connect the airport to central Saddar in about 30 minutes. Fares are projected to be PKR 50-100. Check the Sindh Mass Transit Authority website for updates. **🚐 Rickshaws and Qingqi** Auto-rickshaws and qingqis (motorized rickshaws) are available outside the airport but are not recommended for luggage-heavy travelers. Fares should be negotiated upfront, typically PKR 500-800 to nearby areas. They are best for short trips to Gulshan-e-Iqbal or PECHS. **🏨 Hotel Shuttle Services** Many hotels in Clifton and Saddar offer complimentary airport shuttles for guests. Check with your hotel before arrival; some require 24-hour advance booking. The shuttle is usually a comfortable, air-conditioned car or minibus. **💰 Money and Payment Tips** Carry small denominations of Pakistani rupees for taxis and rickshaws, as drivers rarely have change. Ride-hailing apps accept credit cards, but cash is more reliable. Avoid exchanging money at the airport counters; rates are better in the city. **⏰ Travel Time Considerations** Travel time from the airport to the city center varies greatly. Off-peak (10 PM to 6 AM) takes 20-30 minutes, while peak hours (8-10 AM and 5-8 PM) can take over an hour. Plan accordingly, especially for flights departing during rush hour.
