**🍜 Must-Try Dishes** Start with the signature beef noodle soup at Old Chen's Noodle House, where the broth simmers for 18 hours and the noodles are hand-pulled daily. For a lighter bite, try the scallion pancakes at Auntie Mei's Stall, crispy outside and flaky inside, served with a tangy soy-vinegar dip. **🏘️ Old Town Eats** Wander the narrow lanes of Old Town, where family-run eateries like Grandma Liu's Kitchen serve home-style braised pork and pickled vegetables. Don't miss the evening stinky tofu stand at the corner of Lotus Lane and Bridge Street, a local favorite that draws crowds by 6 PM. **🌃 Night Market Finds** The Dengtalu Night Market, open from 5 PM to midnight, is a maze of sizzling skewers and sweet treats. Try the grilled lamb skewers at Stall 23, seasoned with cumin and chili, and finish with a bowl of sweet red bean soup from the dessert cart near the north gate. **💵 Budget Bites** For a filling meal under 20 yuan, head to the university district, where student canteens open to the public. The jianbing stall on Renmin Road serves a hearty crepe with egg, crispy cracker, and hoisin sauce for just 8 yuan, perfect for a quick breakfast or lunch. **🍽️ Sit-Down Restaurants** For a more formal dinner, book a table at The Golden Lotus, a restaurant known for its Cantonese dim sum and Peking duck, with mains ranging from 80 to 150 yuan. Another excellent choice is Riverside Bistro, offering modern Sichuan cuisine with a view of the river, where the mapo tofu is a standout. **🍰 Sweet Treats** Satisfy your sweet tooth at Sugar House, a dessert café on Central Avenue famous for its egg tarts and mango pomelo sago. For a traditional touch, visit the old-fashioned bakery on East Street, where you can buy freshly baked mooncakes and sesame balls for under 10 yuan each. **🚶 Food Tours** Join a guided food walking tour that starts at the Bell Tower and winds through three neighborhoods, with tastings at six different vendors. Tours run daily at 10 AM and 3 PM, cost 150 yuan per person, and last about three hours, offering a great overview of local flavors. **📅 Seasonal Specialties** In spring, look for bamboo shoot dishes at local restaurants, while summer brings spicy crayfish to many menus. Autumn is the time for hairy crab, available at select seafood spots like Crab House on Harbor Road, and winter calls for hot pot, with popular chains like Little Sheep offering all-you-can-eat deals.
