**🍽️ Where to Start** Start your food journey at Anda's bustling public market, located on the main square. Here you'll find fresh produce, local cheeses, and cured meats at stalls like La Bodeguita, open daily from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Prices are very reasonable: a wedge of artisan cheese costs around 3 to 5 euros, and a bag of cured chorizo is about 6 euros. This is the perfect place to assemble a picnic or grab snacks for later. **🥘 Traditional Dishes to Try** Anda is known for its hearty mountain cuisine, so don't miss the chance to try 'migas' (a dish of fried breadcrumbs with chorizo) or 'ajoarriero' (a garlicky cod stew). Another local favorite is 'cordero asado,' slow-roasted lamb, often served with roasted potatoes. For dessert, look for 'tarta de queso,' a baked cheesecake that's creamy and not too sweet. These dishes are typically priced between 10 and 18 euros at local restaurants. **🍴 Top Restaurants** For a sit-down meal, head to Restaurante El Fogón, at Calle Mayor 15, which serves generous portions of grilled meats and stews from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, closed on Mondays. A three-course menu del día costs about 15 euros, including bread and a drink. Another excellent choice is La Posada de Anda on Avenida de la Constitución 8, known for its homemade desserts and friendly service. Reservations are recommended on weekends. **🌮 Street Food and Snacks** Anda's street food scene is small but satisfying. Near the bus station, you'll find food trucks selling 'bocadillos' (sandwiches) filled with jamón serrano or tortilla española for around 4 to 6 euros. In the evenings, a stall on Plaza del Ayuntamiento offers freshly fried 'churros' with thick hot chocolate for 3 euros. These are perfect for a quick bite while exploring the town. **🍷 Local Bars and Tapas** Tapas culture is alive in Anda, especially along Calle Nueva. Bar La Esquina, at Calle Nueva 22, serves a free tapa with every drink ordered, and a glass of local wine costs about 2.50 euros. Their specialty is 'pulpo a la gallega,' tender octopus with paprika and olive oil. Another spot, El Rincón de Anda on Calle Real 5, offers a wide selection of pinchos for 2 to 3 euros each. Both places get busy after 8:00 PM. **🍰 Sweet Treats and Cafes** For coffee and pastries, try Café Central on Plaza Mayor, open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Their 'caracola' (a spiral pastry with chocolate) is a local favorite and costs 2.50 euros. Another gem is Pastelería Dulce Anda on Calle San Juan 10, which sells traditional 'mantecados' and 'polvorones' (crumbly cookies) by the dozen for about 8 euros. These make great souvenirs. **💰 Budget and Prices** Eating in Anda is affordable compared to larger Spanish cities. A casual meal at a bar or food stall will cost 5 to 10 euros, while a sit-down dinner with wine ranges from 15 to 25 euros per person. The menu del día at most restaurants is the best value, usually 12 to 18 euros. Tipping is not mandatory, but leaving small change is appreciated. **🚶 Food Neighborhoods to Explore** Most of Anda's food spots are concentrated in the historic center, around Plaza Mayor and Calle Mayor. The area near the market is great for breakfast and lunch, while the streets around Calle Nueva come alive in the evening for tapas. If you're driving, there's free parking near the bus station, a five-minute walk from the center. Everything is walkable, so you can easily hop between bars and restaurants.
