**🏛️ Explore Ancient Sites** Start at the Varendra Research Museum (Kazihata, Rajshahi 6100; open 10 AM to 5 PM, closed Sundays; entry 20 taka), the oldest museum in Bangladesh, with a collection of Hindu, Buddhist, and Muslim artifacts. Then head to the ruins of the Puthia Temple Complex (about 30 km east of Rajshahi city; open sunrise to sunset; free entry), home to the ornate Govinda Temple and the largest Shiva temple in Bangladesh. For a quieter experience, visit the Bagha Mosque (Bagha, Rajshahi; open 24 hours; free), a 16th-century mosque with terracotta decorations that sees few tourists. **🌳 Relax in Green Spaces** The Rajshahi University campus (Kazla, Rajshahi 6205; open 6 AM to 8 PM; free entry) is a lush, sprawling area perfect for walking or cycling, with ancient trees and a serene atmosphere. The Shahid Zia Park (near the railway station; open 10 AM to 10 PM; entry 20 taka) offers a lake, gardens, and a small amusement park for families. For a peaceful afternoon, head to the Padma River bank near the T-Dam area, where you can watch the sunset and enjoy the cool breeze. **🍽️ Taste Local Flavors** Rajshahi is famous for its sweet mangoes, and you can sample them at the local markets like Shaheb Bazar (open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM) during the summer months (May to July). For a traditional meal, try the authentic Bengali thali at the restaurant 'Pakhi' (Shaheb Bazar; open 11 AM to 11 PM; around 300 taka per person). Don't miss the street food at the New Market area, especially the 'chotpoti' and 'fuchka' stalls that come alive in the evening. **🛍️ Shop at Local Markets** The New Market (Shaheb Bazar; open 10 AM to 9 PM) is the go-to place for clothing, fabrics, and household items at bargain prices. For silk and traditional textiles, visit the Rajshahi Silk Factory (Silk Road, Rajshahi; open 9 AM to 6 PM, closed Fridays), where you can buy authentic Rajshahi silk sarees directly from the source. The Shaheb Bazar area is also great for picking up fresh produce and local snacks. **🚲 Cycle Along the Padma** Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops near the Padma Garden (around 100 taka per hour) and take a ride along the riverbank, especially in the early morning or late afternoon. The route from Padma Garden to the T-Dam is about 5 km and offers stunning views of the river and the countryside. You can also join local cycling groups that organize weekend rides to nearby villages and mango orchards. **🎭 Experience Cultural Life** Check out the Rajshahi Cultural Center (near the city center; open 10 AM to 8 PM; free entry) for art exhibitions and cultural performances. The annual Rajshahi Mango Festival, held in June, is a must-visit if you're in town, with music, dance, and of course, mango tasting. For a glimpse of local life, visit the Rajshahi College area in the evening, where students gather and street performers often entertain. **🕌 Visit Historic Mosques** The Bagha Mosque (Bagha, Rajshahi; open 24 hours; free) is a beautiful example of terracotta mosque architecture, about 40 km from the city. Closer to town, the Choto Sona Mosque (Chapai Nawabganj, about 30 km from Rajshahi; open sunrise to sunset; free) is another gem, though it requires a bit of a drive. Both are peaceful spots that offer a break from the city bustle. **🌅 Catch a Padma Sunset** The Padma River is the lifeblood of Rajshahi, and watching the sunset from the riverbank is a quintessential experience. Head to the Padma Garden area or the T-Dam, where you can sit on the steps and enjoy the view as the sun dips below the horizon. For a different perspective, take a short boat ride (around 200 taka for 30 minutes) from the Sadar Ghat and see the river up close.
