**🏛️ Start Downtown** Begin your visit at the Strong National Museum of Play, 1 Manhattan Square, open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, with admission at $22 for adults. From there, walk to the Susan B. Anthony Museum & House, 17 Madison Street, to see where the suffrage movement was born. Both are within a 15-minute walk, so you can easily cover them in one morning. **🌳 Green Spaces and Gardens** Highland Park, at 180 Reservoir Avenue, is famous for its lilacs, and the annual Lilac Festival runs from May 8 to 17 in 2026, with free entry. For a quieter escape, visit the Lamberton Conservatory inside the park, open daily from 10 AM to 4 PM, with a $5 admission fee. Pack a picnic and enjoy the arboretum's winding paths. **🎨 Art and Culture** The Memorial Art Gallery, 500 University Avenue, showcases works from ancient to contemporary, and it's open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM, with $20 adult tickets. For something edgier, check out the Rochester Contemporary Art Center, 137 East Avenue, which hosts the famous 6x6 exhibition each spring. Both venues offer free admission on certain days, so check their calendars before you go. **🍕 Eat Like a Local** Rochester's food scene is defined by the garbage plate, a hearty mix of mac salad, home fries, and your choice of meat, best tried at Nick Tahou Hots, 320 West Main Street, open until 4 AM on weekends. For a sit-down meal, head to The Gate House, 274 Monroe Avenue, known for its farm-to-table dishes and craft cocktails. Don't skip the white hots, a local sausage variety, available at many diners. **🎭 Evening Entertainment** Catch a show at the historic Kodak Center, 200 West Ridge Road, which hosts concerts and Broadway tours; ticket prices vary, but many events start around $35. For a more intimate vibe, visit the Little Theatre, 240 East Avenue, a nonprofit cinema showing indie films, with tickets at $12. After the show, grab a drink at The Daily Refresher, 269 Exchange Boulevard, a cozy bar with a speakeasy feel. **🚲 Getting Around** The city's bike-share program, RTS Blue Bikes, has stations throughout downtown, with rentals starting at $3 per 30 minutes. For longer trips, the RTS bus system covers the metro area, with a day pass costing $3.50. If you're driving, be prepared for metered parking downtown, which is free after 6 PM and on Sundays. **💡 Insider Tips** Visit the George Eastman Museum, 900 East Avenue, on a Thursday when admission is pay-what-you-wish, and don't miss the restored mansion and gardens. For a unique view, take the free elevator to the top of the Times Square Building, but check the schedule as it's only open on select weekends. Finally, the Rochester Public Market, 280 North Union Street, is a must on Saturday mornings; arrive before 9 AM to beat the crowds and get the freshest produce.
