**🍗 Wings and More** No trip to Buffalo is complete without trying the city's namesake chicken wings. Anchor Bar, at 1047 Main Street, claims to have invented them in 1964, and you can still get a classic order for around $15. For a local favorite, head to Duff's, with locations in Amherst and Orchard Park, where the medium heat is a perfect starting point. Both spots are cash-friendly and open late, so you can satisfy your craving any time. **🌭 Beef on Weck** Another Buffalo icon is the beef on weck, a roast beef sandwich on a kummelweck roll topped with salt and caraway seeds. Schwabl's, at 789 Center Road in West Seneca, has been serving this classic since 1837, and a sandwich costs about $12. For a modern twist, try the version at The Black Sheep, a farm-to-table spot on Connecticut Street, where they use locally sourced beef. Don't forget the horseradish and au jus for dipping. **🍕 Pizza and More** Buffalo-style pizza is a unique, thick-crust pie with a slightly sweet sauce and cup-and-char pepperoni. Bocce Club Pizza, at 4314 Bailey Avenue, is a beloved institution, with a large cheese pizza starting at $16. For a gourmet option, visit Jay's Artisan Pizza in Kenmore, where the wood-fired pies are topped with creative ingredients like prosciutto and arugula. Both are perfect for a casual dinner, and you can order by the slice at Bocce's lunch counter. **🍝 Italian Traditions** Buffalo's Italian heritage shines in its red-sauce restaurants, especially in the Hertel Avenue neighborhood. Chef's, at 291 Seneca Street, has been serving classic dishes like chicken parmigiana and spaghetti and meatballs since 1923, with mains around $20. For a more contemporary take, visit Inizio, on Hertel Avenue, where the handmade pasta and wood-fired pizzas are a local favorite. Reservations are recommended on weekends, and both spots offer gluten-free options. **🌮 Global Flavors** The West Side Bazaar, at 1432 Niagara Street, is a food hall with stalls from around the world, including Burmese, Ethiopian, and Mexican cuisine. You can enjoy a full meal for under $10, and the bazaar is open Tuesday through Saturday. For a sit-down experience, try the authentic Mexican dishes at La Divina, on Niagara Street, where the tacos al pastor are a standout. These spots are perfect for adventurous eaters looking to explore Buffalo's diverse food scene. **🍩 Sweet Treats** For dessert, head to Paula's Donuts, a local chain with locations across the city, known for its creative flavors like maple bacon and peanut butter cup. A dozen donuts costs about $15, and they're open 24 hours on weekends. For a classic ice cream experience, visit Anderson's Frozen Custard, at 2239 Delaware Avenue, where a small custard cone is around $4. Both are beloved institutions that have been serving Buffalo for decades. **🍺 Craft Beer and Brewpubs** Buffalo's craft beer scene is thriving, with many breweries offering food to match. Resurgence Brewing Company, at 1250 Niagara Street, serves up elevated pub fare like beer-battered fish and chips, with mains around $15. For a unique experience, visit Big Ditch Brewing Company, in the heart of downtown, where the Hayburner IPA pairs perfectly with their smoked wings. Many breweries offer tours on weekends, so you can learn about the brewing process while you eat. **🚗 Getting Around** Many of Buffalo's best food spots are spread out, so having a car is convenient, but parking is often free in the suburbs. The Metro Rail runs along Main Street downtown, making it easy to reach places like the West Side Bazaar and Anchor Bar. Ride-sharing services are also widely available, and most restaurants are within a 15-minute drive of downtown. If you're visiting in summer, consider biking, as the city has several dedicated bike lanes.
