**🍽️ Cajun and Creole Classics** Start your culinary journey at Tony's Seafood, 5215 Plank Road, where the boiled crawfish (seasonal, market price) and boudin balls (3 for $5) are legendary. For a sit-down classic, head to Parrain's Seafood, 3225 Perkins Road, and try the chargrilled oysters ($14 for half dozen) or the crawfish étouffée ($18). Both spots capture the essence of South Louisiana cooking. **🍔 Best Burgers and Po'boys** The burger at Fat Cow Burgers, 4350 Highland Road, is a local favorite, with prices from $10 to $14, and they also serve a mean po'boy. For a traditional po'boy, try Olde Tyme Grocery, 218 W St Mary Blvd in Lafayette (worth the drive), but in Baton Rouge, check out Poor Boy Lloyd's, 201 Florida Street, for their roast beef po'boy ($9.50). **🌮 International Flavors** Baton Rouge has a growing international food scene. For authentic Mexican, try La Carreta, 4065 Government Street, where tacos are $2.50 each and the margaritas are strong. For Vietnamese, head to Dang's, 9290 Bluebonnet Blvd, and order the pho ($10) or banh mi ($5). **🍰 Sweet Treats and Desserts** Cool down with a snowball from Sno-Biz, 3145 Government Street, where a small snowball is $3 and you can add condensed milk for 50 cents. For a more decadent treat, visit Ambrosia Bakery, 8546 Siegen Lane, for their famous king cakes (seasonal, $18 and up) or petit fours ($2 each). **🍳 Breakfast and Brunch Spots** Start your day at Louie's Cafe, 3322 Lake Street, a Baton Rouge institution open 24 hours, where the hash browns are crispy and a full breakfast runs about $10. For a fancier brunch, try Another Broken Egg Cafe, 2531 Citiplace Court, with dishes like the crab cake benedict ($15) and bottomless mimosas ($12). **🍺 Late Night Eats** When the bars close, the food trucks come out. Look for Taco de Oro food truck, often parked on Perkins Road near LSU, serving tacos for $2.50 each until 2 AM. Or hit up The Chimes, 3357 Highland Road, open until midnight, for their famous cheese fries ($8) and a wide selection of craft beers. **💵 Budget-Friendly Bites** You don't have to spend a lot to eat well in Baton Rouge. Head to Anthony's Italian Deli, 5575 Government Street, for a muffuletta ($8) that can easily feed two. Or try the daily lunch specials at George's Restaurant, 2941 Perkins Road, where you can get a meat and three sides for under $10. **🚗 Getting Around and Tips** Most restaurants are spread out, so having a car is helpful. Parking is usually free, but downtown spots may charge a few dollars during events. Many places are closed on Sundays, so check hours in advance. For the best experience, visit during crawfish season (March to June) when boils are plentiful.
