**🏞️ Explore the Towpath Trail** The Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail runs right through Akron, offering miles of paved and crushed limestone paths for walking, running, and biking. Start at the Mustill Store Museum (57 W North St) to pick up a map and learn about the canal era. The trail is open dawn to dusk year-round, and parking is free at several trailheads like the Summit Lake Nature Center. **🎨 Discover Local Art** The Akron Art Museum (1 S High St) features contemporary and modern works, with free admission on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For a more eclectic scene, check out the Summit Artspace (140 E Market St), a nonprofit gallery showcasing regional artists in a historic building. Both venues often host workshops and events, so check their calendars before you go. **⚾ Catch a RubberDucks Game** The Akron RubberDucks, the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians, play at Canal Park (300 S Main St) from April through September. Tickets start around $10 for general admission, and the stadium offers fun promotions like Thirsty Thursdays with discounted drinks. The atmosphere is family-friendly, and you can even see the Akron skyline from the outfield concourse. **🍔 Savor Local Flavors** Akron's food scene shines at places like The Lockview (207 S Main St), known for its gourmet grilled cheese and tomato soup, open until 2 a.m. on weekends. For a classic burger, head to Swensons Drive-In (40 S Hawkins Ave), a local institution since 1934 where carhops bring your order to your window. Don't miss the Galley Boy, a double cheeseburger with two secret sauces. **🎭 See a Show Downtown** The Akron Civic Theatre (182 S Main St) is a historic 1929 movie palace that now hosts concerts, comedy, and Broadway shows. Tickets vary by event, but you can often find affordable seats for community performances. Nearby, the Goodyear Theater (1201 E Market St) offers a more intimate setting for live music and comedy. **🌳 Relax in the Parks** Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens (714 N Portage Path) is a must-visit, with 70 acres of manicured gardens and a Tudor Revival mansion. Admission is $15 for adults, and guided tours of the manor are available for an extra fee. For a free option, head to Goodyear Heights Metro Park (2077 Newton St) for hiking trails and a fishing pond. **🛍️ Shop Local Boutiques** The Highland Square neighborhood is packed with independent shops like Revival (867 W Market St), which sells vintage clothing and handmade goods. For records and CDs, visit Square Records (824 W Market St), a staple since 1999. Most shops open around 11 a.m. and close by 7 p.m., so plan an afternoon stroll. **🚗 Getting Around Akron** Downtown Akron is walkable, but for attractions like Stan Hywet or the Towpath Trail, you'll want a car or bike. The Metro RTA bus system covers most of the city, with a single ride costing $1.25 and day passes available for $2.50. Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are also readily available, especially in the evenings.
