**🏰 Start at Kalemegdan Fortress** Kalemegdan Fortress is the historic heart of Belgrade, offering sweeping views of the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. The park surrounding it is free to enter and open 24 hours, with the Military Museum and Roman well adding depth to your visit. Arrive early in the morning to avoid crowds and enjoy a peaceful stroll along the ramparts. **🏛️ Explore Skadarlija Bohemian Quarter** Skadarlija is Belgrade's answer to Montmartre, a cobblestone street lined with traditional kafanas (taverns) and live music venues. For an authentic evening, dine at Tri Sesira (Three Hats) at Skadarska 29, where you can try Serbian specialties like ćevapi and live tamburitza music. The area is most lively after 8 PM, but it's also charming for a daytime coffee at one of the outdoor terraces. **🏙️ Walk the Belgrade Waterfront** The Belgrade Waterfront is a modern development along the Sava River, featuring sleek architecture, promenades, and the iconic Kula Belgrade tower. You can take a free elevator to the observation deck at the top of the tower for panoramic city views (open daily 10 AM to 10 PM). The area is perfect for an evening stroll, with many cafes and restaurants offering river-facing seating. **🎨 Discover Street Art in Savamala** Savamala is Belgrade's creative district, where abandoned warehouses have been transformed into galleries, clubs, and street art canvases. Look for murals by local artists along Karadjordjeva Street and visit the KC Grad cultural center at Braće Krsmanović 4 for exhibitions and events. The area comes alive at night, but daytime visits offer better lighting for photos. **🚇 Getting Around the City** Belgrade's public transport includes buses, trams, and trolleybuses, all operated by GSP Beograd. A single ticket costs 89 RSD (about 0.75 EUR) when purchased from a kiosk, or you can use the BusPlus card for contactless payment. Taxis are affordable but always use licensed ones with a taxi sign and meter; avoid unmarked cars. For a scenic route, take tram line 2 which circles the city center. **🍽️ Taste Local Cuisine** Serbian food is hearty and meat-focused, with dishes like pljeskavica (stuffed burger) and sarma (cabbage rolls). For a budget-friendly meal, head to Manufaktura at Kralja Petra 13, where grilled meats and local beers cost around 1500 RSD per person. Vegetarians can try the bean soup or shopska salad at most kafanas. Don't miss trying rakija, a fruit brandy often served as a welcome drink. **💵 Money-Saving Tips** Belgrade is one of Europe's most affordable capitals, but you can save more by eating at bakeries (pekara) for breakfast, where burek and yogurt cost under 200 RSD. Many museums, like the Museum of Yugoslavia, have free admission on the first Sunday of the month. Avoid exchange offices in tourist zones; use ATMs or official exchange counters for better rates. **🌃 Best Evening Spots** For a night out, head to the splavovi (floating river clubs) along the Sava and Danube, such as Freestyler or The Bank. These open-air clubs host live music and DJs, with entry often free before 11 PM. If you prefer a quieter evening, grab a cocktail at the bar of the Hotel Moskva at Balkanska 1, a historic landmark with a glamorous 1920s atmosphere.
