**🏛️ Explore Historic Wooden Architecture** Tomsk is famous for its ornate wooden houses, and the best examples cluster around Krasnoarmeyskaya Street and the Tatarskaya Sloboda area. The House with Firebirds at Krasnoarmeyskaya 68 is a standout, with its intricate carvings and fairy-tale turrets. Many of these buildings are still private residences, so admire them from the street and respect the residents' privacy. For a deeper dive, the Museum of Wooden Architecture at Kirovsky Prospekt 7 offers context and exhibits on the craft. **🎓 Wander the University Quarter** Tomsk is a university town, and the main campus of Tomsk State University on Lenin Avenue is worth a stroll. The Siberian Botanical Garden nearby is a peaceful escape, open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM, with a small entrance fee of around 200 rubles. Check out the University Grove, a favorite spot for students and locals to relax. The area also has several historic buildings and monuments that tell the story of Siberian education. **🍽️ Taste Siberian Flavors** For traditional Siberian cuisine, head to Kashi na Karte at Lenin Avenue 46, where you can try pelmeni and borscht for around 500 rubles. The restaurant is open from noon to 11 PM daily. Another local favorite is Sibirskaya Korona at Prospekt Lenina 54, known for its hearty meat dishes and pine nut desserts. Don't miss the chance to sample cedar milk and local honey at the Tomsk Market on Prospekt Lenina. **🖼️ Visit Museums and Galleries** The Tomsk Regional Museum at Prospekt Lenina 75 houses a vast collection on Siberian history and ethnography, open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 AM to 6 PM, with tickets at 300 rubles. Many museums offer discounted tickets for students and seniors. **🌳 Relax in Parks and Embankments** The Tom River embankment is a lovely place for a walk, especially at sunset when the city lights reflect on the water. Start at the Kamenny Most (Stone Bridge) and stroll along the promenade towards the Lagerny Garden, a large park with cafes and boat rentals. In summer, the park hosts open-air concerts and festivals. The Birch Grove Park near the university is another green oasis, perfect for a picnic. **🎭 Catch a Show or Festival** Tomsk has a vibrant cultural scene, with theaters like the Tomsk Drama Theater at Ploshchad Lenina 4 offering classic and contemporary plays. Tickets range from 500 to 1500 rubles, and performances are usually in Russian. In June, the city celebrates its birthday with street parades and fireworks. The International Festival of Wooden Sculpture in August brings artists from across Russia to create new works in real time. **🚶 Stroll Along Voskresenskaya Hill** Voskresenskaya Hill is the historic heart of Tomsk, where the city was founded in 1604. Climb the hill to the Voskresenskaya Church and enjoy panoramic views of the city and the Tom River. The area is dotted with old merchant houses and the remains of the original fortress. It's a steep but short walk, and there are benches along the way to rest. **🛍️ Shop for Local Crafts** For souvenirs, head to the Tomsk Art Salon at Prospekt Lenina 44, which sells handmade ceramics, wooden toys, and jewelry. Prices are reasonable, with small gifts starting at 300 rubles. The Tomsk Market on Prospekt Lenina is also great for local food products like jams, pickles, and smoked fish.
