**🗺️ Arrival and Orientation** Start your trip at the Calamba City Hall on Rizal Street, where you can pick up a free city map and ask about current transport schedules. From there, walk five minutes to the Rizal Shrine, the reconstructed ancestral home of Jose Rizal, open Tuesday to Sunday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a modest entrance fee of around PHP 50. For a quick bite, try the local eateries along Mercado Street, where a bowl of bulalo costs about PHP 150. Buses from Manila (Buendia or Cubao) take 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic, so plan to arrive before noon to maximize your first day. **🏛️ Day 1: Heritage Core** Spend your first morning exploring the Rizal Shrine and the nearby Calamba Church (St. John the Baptist Parish), both within walking distance of each other. After lunch at one of the carinderias near the plaza, head to the Calamba Clay Pot Factory on Sampaguita Street to see traditional pottery making; a short tricycle ride from the plaza costs around PHP 30. In the afternoon, visit the Jose Rizal Monument at the town plaza and relax at the Calamba Park. End the day with a sunset view at the Calamba Riverwalk, about a 15-minute walk from the plaza. **🌿 Day 2: Nature and Hot Springs** Dedicate your second day to the hot springs of Barangay Pansol, about 20 to 30 minutes by tricycle or jeepney from the city center (fare around PHP 50). Start at the Pansol Hot Spring Resort, open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with entrance fees ranging from PHP 100 to 200 depending on the pool. For a more upscale experience, book a day pass at one of the private resorts like Monte Vista Resort, which offers private pools and cottages for PHP 500 to 1000. After soaking, enjoy a late lunch at a local restaurant serving grilled tilapia and sinigang, then return to the city proper by 4:00 PM to avoid the evening rush. **🍜 Day 3: Food and Markets** On your final day, immerse yourself in Calamba's food scene by visiting the Calamba Public Market on Mercado Street, open from 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Try local favorites like pancit habhab and bibingka, and buy pasalubong such as Calamba's famous buko pie for around PHP 200. For a sit-down lunch, head to Kawayan Kitchen along the national highway, known for its seafood dishes and bamboo-themed interior. In the afternoon, explore the nearby Los Baños area (a 20-minute jeepney ride) to visit the International Rice Research Institute and its rice museum, open weekdays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. **🚌 Getting Around** Tricycles are the main mode of transport within Calamba, with short trips costing PHP 20 to 50; agree on the fare before boarding. Jeepneys connect the city center to nearby barangays like Pansol and Los Baños for PHP 15 to 30, but they can be crowded during peak hours (7:00 to 9:00 AM and 5:00 to 7:00 PM). For longer trips, such as to the hot springs, consider hiring a tricycle for a round trip (around PHP 300 to 500) or using ride-hailing apps like Grab, which are available but may have limited coverage in remote areas. Always allow extra time for traffic, especially on the national highway. **💡 Practical Tips** Bring cash, as many small establishments and tricycles do not accept credit cards. The best time to visit is during the dry season from November to April, but be prepared for crowds during Holy Week and town fiestas. Wear comfortable walking shoes and light clothing, and carry an umbrella for sudden rain showers. For emergencies, the Calamba City Health Office is located near the city hall, and major hospitals like Calamba Medical Center are along the national highway. **🌙 Evening Spots** For a relaxed evening, head to the Calamba Boardwalk along the lakeshore, where you can enjoy street food and a cool breeze from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Try the grilled seafood skewers and fresh lumpia from the vendors for around PHP 50 to 100. If you prefer a sit-down dinner, visit The Grill House on Rizal Street, open until 10:00 PM, serving Filipino favorites like crispy pata and kare-kare. For nightlife, check out the small bars near the plaza, which often have live acoustic music on weekends. **🛏️ Where to Stay** For budget travelers, consider the inns along Mercado Street, where fan rooms start at PHP 500 per night and air-conditioned rooms at PHP 800. Mid-range options include Hotel Marciano along the national highway, with rates from PHP 1,500 to 2,500 per night, including breakfast. For a more resort-like experience, book a cottage at one of the Pansol hot spring resorts, which offer overnight stays for PHP 2,000 to 4,000 for a group of four. Book ahead during weekends and holidays, as rooms fill up quickly.
