**🗺️ Where to Start** Base yourself around the Main Market area for easy access to transport and commerce. Hotels like the De Grand Hotel (Ziks Avenue) offer central location with rates from 15,000 Naira per night. From here, you can walk to most key spots in the first day. **🌅 Day 1: Market & River** Start at 8 AM with a visit to the Onitsha Main Market, one of West Africa's largest open-air markets. Spend two hours exploring the fabrics and electronics sections. By 11 AM, take a 10-minute taxi (500 Naira) to the Onitsha River Port for a 30-minute boat ride on the Niger River (2,000 Naira per person). **🍛 Lunch & Local Flavors** Head to Ogbete Main Market for lunch at a buka serving ofe nsala (white soup) with fufu, around 1,500 Naira. Alternatively, try the popular Abacha (African salad) from street vendors near the market entrance. Avoid drinking tap water; stick to bottled water sold everywhere for 100 Naira. **🏛️ Day 2: Culture & History** Visit the National Museum of Colonial History (open 9 AM-5 PM, entry 500 Naira) on Ziks Avenue to see artifacts from the Biafran War. Then take a 15-minute taxi (800 Naira) to the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, a striking Catholic cathedral with guided tours available. End the morning at the Onitsha City Library for a quiet break. **🚌 Getting Around** Taxis are the most reliable option; short trips within the city cost 300-500 Naira, while longer rides to the outskirts run 1,000-2,000 Naira. Keke Napep (tricycles) are cheaper for short distances (100-200 Naira) but can be crowded. Avoid driving yourself due to chaotic traffic, especially around the market. **🌆 Day 3: Relax & Shop** Spend the morning at the Onitsha Golf Course (green fees 3,000 Naira) for a relaxing start. Then head to the New Market Road for souvenir shopping: carved wooden masks and ankara fabrics are popular. Bargain firmly; vendors often start at double the fair price. For lunch, try the grilled fish at Iyiowa Odekpe Road (1,200 Naira per portion). **🌙 Best Evening Spots** For nightlife, visit Club 10 on Upper Iweka Road for live music and a lively crowd; cover charge is 2,000 Naira on weekends. Alternatively, the quieter Viewing Centre on Ziks Avenue offers outdoor seating with river views and cold drinks. Most places close by midnight, so plan accordingly. **💡 Local Prices & Tips** A typical meal costs 1,000-2,000 Naira, and a bottle of water is 100 Naira. Carry cash as many vendors don't accept cards; ATMs are available at banks on Ziks Avenue but may have long queues. Dress modestly, especially in markets and religious sites, and keep valuables secure in crowded areas.
