**✈️ Airport Overview** Ibadan Airport (IBA) is a domestic terminal located about 15 kilometers from the city center. It serves flights from Lagos, Abuja, and other Nigerian cities. The airport is small but functional, with a single arrivals hall and basic amenities. **🚕 Taxis and Ride-Hailing** Taxis are available outside the arrivals hall, but always agree on a fare before boarding. A trip to the city center costs between 5,000 and 8,000 Naira depending on your destination. Ride-hailing apps like Bolt and Uber operate in Ibadan, but pickup can be unreliable due to limited driver availability. **🚌 Public Buses and Shared Vans** Cheaper options include shared minibuses (danfos) that depart from the main road outside the airport. Fares range from 300 to 500 Naira, but these vehicles can be crowded and make multiple stops. Buses heading toward Dugbe or Iwo Road are common, and you can ask the driver to drop you near your hotel. **🚗 Private Car Hire** For a more comfortable ride, pre-book a private car through local services like Ibadan Car Hire or your hotel. Prices start at 10,000 Naira for a one-way transfer. This option is ideal for groups or travelers with heavy luggage. **⚠️ Avoiding Taxi Scams** Be wary of drivers who quote inflated prices, especially if you look like a tourist. Always confirm the fare before getting in, and use a local SIM card to call a ride-hailing app if possible. Avoid unmarked cars or drivers who insist on taking you to a specific hotel without your request. **⏱️ Travel Time and Traffic** The drive from the airport to the city center typically takes 30 to 45 minutes in light traffic. During rush hour (7-9 AM and 4-7 PM), expect delays of up to an hour. Plan your arrival accordingly, especially if you have a connecting bus or meeting. **💵 Currency and Payment Tips** Most drivers prefer cash in Nigerian Naira, so have small bills ready. ATMs at the airport are often unreliable, so withdraw cash before arriving. Ride-hailing apps accept card payments, but cash is still king for street taxis and buses. **📱 Booking and Local SIM Cards** Buy a local SIM card at the airport from MTN or Glo kiosks to access ride-hailing apps and maps. Data plans start at 1,000 Naira for 1GB. Pre-booking a taxi via WhatsApp groups or hotel concierge can save you hassle and money.
