**🌆 Sky Tower Views** Start your Auckland visit at the Sky Tower, located at the corner of Victoria and Federal Streets. The observation deck offers 360-degree views of the city and harbors, and admission is around NZD 39 for adults. For a thrill, try the SkyJump or SkyWalk, both available with advance booking. **🏖️ Beaches and Islands** Auckland's volcanic landscape means you're never far from a beach. Take a 40-minute ferry from downtown to Waiheke Island for vineyard tours and white-sand beaches like Oneroa. Alternatively, visit Mission Bay, just 15 minutes from the city center, with its grassy reserve and ice cream shops. **🌿 Volcanic Cone Hikes** Mount Eden (Maungawhau) is a dormant volcano with a crater and panoramic city views. The walk to the summit takes about 20 minutes and is free. For a less crowded option, try One Tree Hill (Maungakiekie) in Cornwall Park, which also has a historic obelisk and sheep grazing nearby. **🎨 Museums and Galleries** The Auckland War Memorial Museum in the Domain showcases Maori and Pacific Island artifacts, with entry by donation for locals and NZD 25 for international visitors. The Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki on Wellesley Street features a strong collection of New Zealand and international art, with free general admission. **🍴 Food Markets** La Cigale French Market on Saturday mornings at 69 St Georges Bay Road offers artisan cheeses, pastries, and fresh produce. For a waterfront option, head to the Auckland Fish Market on Jellicoe Street, where you can sample local seafood and craft beer. Both markets are cash-friendly but most vendors accept cards. **🚢 Harbor Cruises** Explore the Waitemata Harbour on a 90-minute cruise with Fullers360, departing from Pier 1 at the Ferry Building. Tickets start at NZD 45, and you'll see the Harbour Bridge, Devonport, and volcanic islands. Sunset cruises are especially popular, so book in advance during summer. **🌳 Urban Parks** Auckland Domain, the city's oldest park, is a 75-hectare green space with walking trails, a duck pond, and the Wintergardens glasshouses. Albert Park, near the university, features formal gardens and a historic fountain. Both are free and perfect for a picnic or a quiet afternoon. **🚌 Getting Around Tips** The Auckland Explorer Bus hop-on-hop-off service covers major attractions with a day pass for NZD 50. For cheaper travel, use the AT HOP card on buses, trains, and ferries, with single fares starting around NZD 2.50. The city center is walkable, but consider a ferry for trips to Devonport or Waiheke.
