**🏛️ Explore the Historic Center** Start your visit at the Plaza Principal, where the Palacio Municipal (Av. Juárez 100, Centro) hosts free cultural events most weekends. The Parroquia de San Antonio de Padua, built in the 18th century, is worth a look for its colonial architecture and quiet courtyard. On Sundays, the plaza fills with vendors selling local crafts and snacks from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. **🌳 Relax in Local Parks** Parque de la Laguna (Calle Laguna, Colonia La Laguna) offers a peaceful lake with paddleboats for 50 pesos per half hour, plus jogging paths and playgrounds. For a quieter spot, Parque Alameda (Av. Alameda, Colonia Alameda) has shaded benches and a small amphitheater that hosts free concerts on Friday evenings. Both parks are free to enter and open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. **🍽️ Taste Local Flavors** Don't miss the barbacoa at Mercado Municipal (Calle Hidalgo, Centro), where stalls like Barbacoa Don Beto serve tender lamb tacos for around 30 pesos each, from 7 a.m. until sold out. For antojitos, head to the evening street food stands on Calle Morelos, where quesadillas and tlacoyos go for 15 to 25 pesos. On weekends, try the traditional pulque at La Paloma (Av. Juárez 45), a family-run pulquería open from noon to 8 p.m. **🎨 Discover Cultural Gems** The Casa de Cultura (Calle Allende 12, Centro) offers free art exhibitions, dance classes, and workshops for all ages; check their schedule on the bulletin board outside. Nearby, the Museo Comunitario (Av. Independencia 78) displays pre-Hispanic artifacts and local history, with a suggested donation of 20 pesos. Both venues are closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly. **🛍️ Shop at Local Markets** The Tianguis de los Martes (Tuesday market) takes over Calle Zaragoza from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering everything from fresh produce to clothing at bargain prices. For a more permanent option, the Mercado Municipal has stalls selling household goods, flowers, and regional cheeses. Bring cash, as most vendors don't accept cards. **🚌 Getting Around Town** Tultitlán is served by the Suburbano train line at Tultitlán Station, with a one-way fare to Mexico City's Buenavista at 23 pesos. Local buses and combis (minibuses) connect the center with surrounding neighborhoods for 10 to 15 pesos; pay the driver in cash. Taxis are plentiful but agree on the fare before boarding, as meters are rare. **🎉 Join Local Festivals** The Feria de San Antonio de Padua in mid-June features processions, carnival rides, and food stalls around the plaza; it's the town's biggest celebration. In November, Día de Muertos brings altars and a night parade along Calle Juárez. Check with the Casa de Cultura for exact dates, as they shift slightly each year. **💡 Insider Tips for Visitors** Weekdays are best for exploring the center without crowds, while weekends are livelier for markets and events. Carry small bills and coins for buses and street food, as breaking large notes can be difficult. Most businesses close by 8 p.m., so plan evening activities around the plaza or local eateries.
