**🗺️ Day 1: Centro Historico** Start your trip in the heart of Saltillo, the Centro Historico. Begin at the Plaza de Armas, where you can see the Cathedral de Santiago, a stunning example of baroque architecture. From there, walk two blocks to the Museo del Desierto, which opens at 10 AM and costs 150 pesos. Plan to spend about three hours exploring the exhibits, then grab lunch at El Mesón Principal, a local favorite for traditional Coahuila cuisine. **🏛️ Day 1 Afternoon: Museums** After lunch, head to the Museo de las Aves, just a 10-minute walk from the plaza. This bird museum houses over 3,000 specimens and is a great spot for nature lovers. Admission is 50 pesos, and it closes at 6 PM. Next, visit the Palacio de Gobierno, a historic building with beautiful murals depicting the region's history. You can tour it for free until 5 PM. **🌆 Day 1 Evening: Alameda** As the sun sets, take a leisurely stroll through the Alameda Zaragoza, a large park just east of the center. It's a popular spot for locals, and you'll find food stalls selling elotes and esquites. For dinner, try El Tapanco, a casual spot known for its carne asada and craft beers. The park is safe at night, but stick to well-lit paths. **🏞️ Day 2: Parque Las Maravillas** On your second day, head to Parque Las Maravillas, a sprawling ecological park about 20 minutes from downtown by car. It opens at 8 AM and offers hiking trails, a lake, and picnic areas. Entry is free, but you'll pay for parking (30 pesos). Bring comfortable shoes and water, as the trails can be dusty. Spend the morning exploring the natural beauty and spotting local wildlife. **🍽️ Day 2 Lunch: Local Flavors** For lunch, drive to the nearby neighborhood of Zona Centro and try El Pastorcito, a family-run taquería famous for its trompo-style al pastor. A taco costs about 20 pesos, and the salsas are made fresh daily. If you prefer something sit-down, La Casa del Mole offers a variety of regional moles, with plates ranging from 120 to 180 pesos. Both places are within a 15-minute drive from the park. **🛍️ Day 2 Afternoon: Shopping** Spend your afternoon exploring the Mercado Juárez, a traditional market where you can buy local crafts, leather goods, and the famous Saltillo sarapes. The market is open from 9 AM to 7 PM, and bargaining is expected. For a more modern shopping experience, visit Galerías Saltillo, a mall with international brands and a food court. It's about a 15-minute drive from the market. **🎭 Day 2 Evening: Culture** In the evening, catch a performance at the Teatro de la Ciudad, a historic theater that hosts plays, concerts, and dance shows. Check the schedule online, as ticket prices range from 100 to 300 pesos. If you're in the mood for something more casual, head to Barrio Antiguo, a neighborhood with vibrant bars and live music. Try La Cervecería de Barrio for local craft beers and a lively atmosphere. **🚌 Day 3: Nearby Towns** On your final day, take a day trip to the nearby town of Arteaga, about 30 minutes by car. Known for its apple orchards and mountain scenery, it's a perfect escape from the city. Visit the Museo de la Manzana, which opens at 10 AM and costs 40 pesos. For lunch, stop at a local cider house like Sidrera El Manzano, where you can sample fresh cider and regional dishes. **🚗 Getting Around** Saltillo is a car-friendly city, but you can also use ride-hailing apps like Uber and Didi, which are affordable and safe. A typical ride within the center costs around 50 to 80 pesos. Public buses are cheap (8 pesos) but routes can be confusing for visitors. If you're staying in the center, most attractions are walkable, so wear comfortable shoes. **💡 Practical Tips** Saltillo is at an altitude of 1,600 meters, so you may feel a bit breathless at first; take it easy on day one. The weather is dry and sunny, so bring sunscreen and a hat. English is not widely spoken, so learn a few basic Spanish phrases. Always carry some cash, as smaller vendors and markets often don't accept cards.
