**🌮 Street Tacos First** Start your food tour at Tacos El Wero, located on Calle Guerrero near the main plaza, open from 6 PM to midnight. Their trompo al pastor is a local favorite, with juicy pineapple-topped tacos at just 15 pesos each. For a classic carne asada taco, head to Taqueria La Fogata on Avenida Hidalgo, where the smoky flavor and fresh salsa bar make it a standout. **🍽️ Sit-Down Classics** For a full meal, reserve a table at El Pastorcito, a family-run restaurant at Calle Morelos 245, serving hearty cabrito and fajitas since 1985. Their lunch specials run from 1 PM to 5 PM, with plates priced between 120 and 180 pesos. Another reliable choice is La Casona, on Boulevard Morelos, known for its grilled ribeye and warm, colonial-style dining room. **🍤 Seafood on the Border** Reynosa's proximity to the Gulf means excellent seafood, and Mariscos El Pescador at Avenida Del Valle 101 is the place to try it. Their aguachile and shrimp cocktail are refreshing and cost around 150 pesos per plate. For a more casual vibe, visit Tacos de Mariscos El Camaron, a street stall near the Mercado Juarez, where fish tacos go for 25 pesos each. **🍮 Sweet Treats and Desserts** End your meal with a traditional capirotada or flan from La Dulceria de Reynosa, a small shop on Calle Zaragoza. Their homemade churros, dusted with cinnamon sugar, are a steal at 20 pesos for three. For a modern twist, try the tres leches cake at Cafe La Parroquia, located inside the Mercado Juarez, open from 8 AM to 8 PM. **🏙️ Neighborhood Food Hubs** The Zona Centro is the heart of Reynosa's food scene, with dozens of stalls and small eateries lining the streets. For a more local experience, head to the Colonia Rodriguez neighborhood, where you'll find family-owned taquerias and gordita stands. The Mercado Juarez, at Calle Hidalgo and Bravo, is a covered market with over 50 food vendors, perfect for a self-guided tasting tour. **💵 Budget and Splurge** Street food in Reynosa is incredibly affordable, with tacos and tortas ranging from 15 to 40 pesos. For a mid-range sit-down meal, expect to pay 150 to 250 pesos per person, including a drink. If you're celebrating, splurge at La Querencia, a high-end steakhouse on Avenida Las Torres, where a full dinner with wine runs about 500 pesos per person. **🕒 Timing Your Meals** Breakfast spots like El Molino, on Calle Matamoros, serve chilaquiles and machacado from 7 AM to noon, with plates under 100 pesos. Lunch is the main meal in Reynosa, so many restaurants offer comida corrida specials from 1 PM to 5 PM. For dinner, street stalls start firing up around 6 PM and stay busy until midnight, especially on weekends. **🚗 Getting Around for Food** Renting a car is the easiest way to explore Reynosa's scattered food gems, with parking available near most plazas. Alternatively, use Uber or local taxis, which are cheap and safe during the day; a ride across town costs about 80 pesos. If you stick to the Zona Centro, you can walk between many top spots, but always stay aware of your surroundings at night.
