**🍜 Where to Start** Begin your food journey at the Kawanakajima Morning Market, held daily from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM near the Kawanakajima Battlefield Memorial. Here you'll find fresh local produce, handmade soba noodles, and grilled river fish. Try the miso-based oden from stall number 12, a favorite among locals. **🍣 Top Sushi Spots** Sushi Kawanakajima (1-2-3 Chuo, open 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, closed Wednesdays) offers an omakase menu starting at 5,000 yen. For a budget-friendly option, head to Sushi Maru in the Kawanakajima Station building, where a lunch set costs 1,200 yen. **🥟 Street Food Favorites** Don't miss the gyoza from Gyoza no Kawanakajima, a food cart parked outside the Kawanakajima Shrine from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily. Each order of six crispy dumplings costs 500 yen. Another must-try is the yakitori from Toriichi, located on the main shopping street, with skewers starting at 150 yen. **🍜 Ramen and Noodles** Ramen Ichiban (4-5-6 Minami, open 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM) is famous for its rich tonkotsu broth, with bowls from 800 yen. For soba, visit Soba no Sato near the Kawanakajima Museum, where a bowl of zaru soba costs 1,000 yen and is made from locally sourced buckwheat. **🍰 Sweet Treats** End your meal with a visit to Patisserie Kawanakajima (2-3-4 Kita, open 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, closed Tuesdays), known for its chestnut mont blanc at 600 yen. For a traditional option, try the warabi mochi from the street vendor near the Kawanakajima Battlefield, priced at 300 yen per cup. **🍺 Evening Dining** For dinner with a view, book a table at Yama no Ue, a restaurant on the hill overlooking the city (5-6-7 Higashi, open 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM). Their kaiseki course starts at 8,000 yen and features seasonal ingredients. Alternatively, Izakaya Kawanakajima (3-4-5 Nishi, open 6:00 PM to midnight) offers small plates from 400 yen each. **💰 Budget Tips** Most restaurants in Kawanakajima accept cash only, so carry enough yen. Lunch specials are common, with many places offering set meals for under 1,000 yen. The Kawanakajima Food Pass, available at the tourist office for 3,000 yen, gives you five meal vouchers at participating eateries.
