**🍢 Street Food Staples** Start your food tour at Pasar Induk, the city's main market, where vendors serve sate kelinci (rabbit satay) and batagor (fried fish dumplings) from early morning until late afternoon. Try the legendary batagor at Batagor H. Asep, located on Jalan Yudanegara, for around IDR 15,000 per portion. For a sweet treat, look for the colorful klepon and getuk sellers near the market's south gate. **🍛 Signature Dishes** Tasikmalaya is famous for nasi liwet, a fragrant rice dish cooked in coconut milk and served with chicken, egg, and sambal. Head to Nasi Liwet H. Didi on Jalan Cihideung for an authentic bowl at IDR 20,000. Another must-try is moci, a soft glutinous rice snack filled with sweet peanut paste, best sampled at Moci Lempur on Jalan Veteran. **🍜 Where to Eat** For a sit-down meal, visit Rumah Makan Sederhana on Jalan Ahmad Yani, which serves Padang-style dishes with generous portions starting at IDR 25,000. If you prefer noodles, Bakso Mas Joko on Jalan K.H. Ahmad Dahlan offers hearty beef balls and noodles for IDR 18,000 a bowl. Both spots are popular with locals and stay open until 9 PM. **🍢 Night Market Finds** As the sun sets, the Jalan Cihideung night market comes alive with stalls selling sate ayam (chicken satay) and martabak. Try the sate at Sate Pak Ujang, where a portion of 10 skewers costs around IDR 25,000. For a crispy martabak manis, stop by Martabak Bang Ali, open until 11 PM, and pay only IDR 20,000 for a classic chocolate-banana filling. **☕ Coffee and Snacks** Take a break at Kopi Nusantara on Jalan Sutisna Senjaya, a cozy cafe serving local brews from Java and Sumatra. A cup of robusta costs IDR 15,000, and they offer traditional snacks like pisang goreng for IDR 10,000. For a modern twist, visit Kedai Kopi Kulo on Jalan RE Martadinata, which opens at 7 AM for early birds. **🛵 Getting Around** Most food spots are within the city center, so you can walk or take an ojek (motorcycle taxi) for short trips. For longer distances, use ride-hailing apps like Gojek or Grab, which are widely available and cost around IDR 10,000 per kilometer. If you prefer public transport, angkot routes pass through Jalan Yudanegara and Jalan Cihideung, with fares starting at IDR 5,000. **💰 Budget Tips** Street food meals typically cost between IDR 10,000 and IDR 25,000, while sit-down restaurants range from IDR 25,000 to IDR 50,000 per person. Carry small bills, as many vendors do not accept cards or digital payments. For the freshest options, visit stalls early in the day, especially at Pasar Induk, where food turnover is high.
