Best day trips from Bandung?

Question

I'm heading to Bandung in about 3 months and want to plan some day trips outside the city. Any must-see spots like tea plantations or waterfalls that are easy to get to?

Kawah Putih is the most popular day trip and for good reason, but you need to go early to beat the crowds. The crater lake is a striking turquoise and the whole area feels surreal, just keep in mind the sulfur smell can be strong. I'd also recommend the drive up to the Tangkuban Perahu volcano instead of the crater itself, the views from the rim are impressive and it's less crowded than you'd expect. For waterfalls, Curug Cimahi is an easy hike with a nice swimming hole at the bottom, but avoid weekends unless you like sharing the water with a hundred other people.

If you have a full day, head up to the Ciwidey area for a loop that includes Rancabali Tea Plantation. The drive itself is beautiful, winding through hills with tea bushes stretching in every direction, and you can stop for a fresh glass at a roadside stall for a few thousand rupiah. From there, Situ Patenggang Lake is just a bit further, a calm spot with a legend about a heart-shaped island in the middle. The road gets narrow and crowded on Sundays, so a weekday makes a big difference.

honestly the best day trip that nobody talks about is the sunrise at gunung batu. it's a short hike maybe 30 minutes up and you get this insane view of bandung from above with the morning mist rolling through the valley. the tea fields around ciwidey are great but if you want something quieter try the cikole area up near lembang. there's a pine forest there with these weird instagram spots but also some really nice walking trails that are almost empty on weekdays. for waterfalls curug tilu leuwi is closer to the city than curug cimahi and the path is way easier to walk, plus the water is colder and cleaner. just bring cash because the parking fees and entry tickets are cash only and the atm near the entrance is always broken.
