Chembur's Best Kept Secret?

Question

I'm heading to Chembur next week for a friend's wedding. Everyone keeps raving about the street food, but I'm a bit of a picky eater. My friend mentioned a hidden gem, a tiny stall tucked away somewhere, supposedly serving the most amazing vada pav. Problem is, nobody can remember exactly *where* it is. Any chance someone could point me in the right direction? I'm hoping to avoid any serious stomach upsets before the big day...

If your stomach's a concern, skip the vada pav hunt altogether and hit up Aswad on the main road. Their batata vada is consistent and they use fresh oil, which makes a difference. The stall near the old BEST depot on Sion-Trombay road is also solid, less traffic than the station ones. Just stick to the plain vada without the extra chilli powder they sometimes add on request.

The stall they're probably thinking of is just off the main road near Diamond Garden, not the signal one. Look for the chai tapri next to the old electrical shop, they share the same space after 5pm. The pav is softer there and they'll make it without the spicy garlic chutney if you ask, which is what usually messes people up.

ines · Answer

Yeah, the one people mean is usually the stall near the old five gardens signal, by the petrol pump. It's not much to look at but the chutney is legit. Just tell them to go easy on the green stuff if your stomach's sensitive.

ngl the best vada pav in chembur is actually the one outside the station, not the famous stalls. there's a guy with a tiffin box near the east exit, no sign or anything, just a small crowd around him after 5pm. his batata is super light so it wont mess with your stomach
