**🗓️ Planning Your Trip** A three-day trip to Davangere works best if you group activities by neighborhood to minimize transit. The city is compact, but traffic during peak hours (8-10 AM and 5-7 PM) can slow you down. Plan to start your days early to cover more ground. This itinerary assumes you are based near the city center, close to the bus stand or railway station. **🚌 Getting Around** Davangere has no metro, so you will rely on auto-rickshaws, city buses, and ride-hailing apps like Ola and Uber. Auto fares typically range from Rs 30 to Rs 100 for short trips within the city. City buses are cheaper, with fares starting at Rs 10, but they can be crowded. For day trips to nearby attractions, hiring a cab for the day costs around Rs 1500 to Rs 2000. **🏨 Where to Stay** Most visitors stay near PJ Extension or Vidyanagar, which offer a good mix of hotels and restaurants. Budget hotels like Hotel Shoven and Hotel Vivek start at Rs 800 per night, while mid-range options like Hotel Sai International and Hotel Ashoka Grand range from Rs 1500 to Rs 2500. For a more comfortable stay, consider Hotel Mango Leaf near Bypass Road, with rooms from Rs 3000. Book in advance if you are visiting during the Davangere Benne Dosa festival in December. **🌅 Day 1: City Center** Start your day at 7 AM with breakfast at Sri Guru Kottureshwara Benne Dosa Hotel on PB Road, famous for its butter dosa (Rs 40). Then visit the historic Kondajji Lake and the adjacent Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple, about 3 km from the center. After lunch at Hotel Ravi Teja (meals from Rs 120), explore the bustling Gandhi Bazaar for local shopping. In the evening, head to the Sri Siddeshwara Swamy Temple and end with dinner at Hotel Pooja International. **🏞️ Day 2: Nature and Temples** Take a morning cab (30 minutes, Rs 300) to the scenic Hirekogalur Lake, ideal for birdwatching. Then visit the ancient Sri Ranganatha Temple in Santhebennur, 25 km away, known for its intricate carvings. Have lunch at a local dhaba on NH-48 before returning to the city. In the afternoon, explore the Soolekere Lake and the nearby Sri Kariyamma Temple. Wrap up with a visit to the Davangere University campus and dinner at Hotel Sagar Deluxe. **🍛 Day 3: Food and Culture** Devote your last day to Davangere's culinary scene. Start with a benne dosa at Sri Guru Kottureshwara Benne Dosa Hotel again, or try the lesser-known Sri Vinayaka Benne Dosa near Old Bus Stand. Then visit the Davangere Cotton Mills and the textile market on Mandipet Road for souvenirs. For lunch, try the local specialty, Davangere style biryani, at Hotel Ravi Teja or Hotel Pooja. In the evening, catch a movie at PVR Cinemas in PJ Extension or stroll through the Bapuji Nagar Park. **🛺 Transport Tips** Auto-rickshaws are plentiful but always insist on the meter or agree on a fare before boarding. A trip from the railway station to PJ Extension costs about Rs 50. City buses run from 6 AM to 9 PM, with major routes connecting the bus stand, railway station, and Vidyanagar. For late-night travel, ride-hailing apps are reliable but may surge. If you plan to visit nearby attractions like Santhebennur, hiring a cab for the day is more convenient. **💰 Budget Breakdown** A comfortable daily budget for a solo traveler is around Rs 2000 to Rs 3000, covering accommodation (Rs 800-1500), meals (Rs 300-500), and local transport (Rs 200-400). Entrance fees to most temples and lakes are free or nominal (Rs 10-20). If you hire a cab for day trips, add Rs 1500-2000. Overall, Davangere is an affordable destination, and you can easily stick to Rs 1500 per day if you eat at local eateries and use buses.
