**🗺️ Day 1: Capitol and Old Town** Start your morning at Place du Capitole, the city's grand square, and admire the 16th-century Capitol building. Then wander through the narrow streets of the old town, stopping for a coffee at the famous Café des Artistes on Rue de la Pomme. In the afternoon, visit the Basilique Saint-Sernin, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and climb its tower for panoramic views. End your day with a stroll along the Garonne River and dinner in the lively Saint-Pierre district. **🚋 Day 2: Cité de l'Espace and South** Take the T1 tram from Arènes station to the Cité de l'Espace, a space-themed park that takes about 30 minutes. Spend the morning exploring the full-scale Ariane 5 rocket and interactive exhibits. After lunch, head back to the city center and visit the Musée des Augustins, housed in a former monastery. In the evening, enjoy a relaxed dinner in the Carmes neighborhood, known for its artisan shops and cozy bistros. **🚲 Day 3: Canal du Midi and Markets** Rent a bike from the VélôToulouse station near Place Wilson and ride along the Canal du Midi, a scenic route that takes you to the Ponts-Jumeaux. Stop at the Marché des Carmes, a covered market open from 7 am to 1 pm, to sample local cheeses and charcuterie. In the afternoon, visit the Jardin des Plantes, a peaceful botanical garden, and then explore the Saint-Cyprien district for its street art. Finish your trip with a sunset view from the Pont Neuf. **🚌 Getting Around Efficiently** Toulouse's public transport system, Tisséo, includes metro, tram, and bus lines that are efficient and punctual. A single ticket costs 1.80 euros and is valid for one hour, allowing transfers between modes. The metro lines A and B cover most tourist attractions, with stations like Capitole and Jean Jaurès in the heart of the city. For the Cité de l'Espace, take the T1 tram, which runs every 10 minutes during the day. **💰 Budget and Money Tips** A typical meal at a mid-range restaurant costs around 15 to 25 euros, while a café au lait is about 2.50 euros. Many museums offer free entry on the first Sunday of the month, so plan accordingly. The Toulouse City Card provides free access to major attractions and unlimited public transport, with prices starting at 25 euros for 24 hours. Consider buying it online in advance to save time and money. **🌙 Evening Entertainment Options** For a memorable evening, catch a performance at the Théâtre du Capitole, which hosts opera and ballet shows from September to June. If you prefer a more casual vibe, head to the bars along Rue de la Colombette, where you can enjoy craft cocktails and live music. For a unique experience, take a nighttime boat cruise on the Garonne River, which offers illuminated views of the city's landmarks. **🍽️ Local Food and Dining** Don't leave without trying cassoulet, a hearty bean and meat stew that is a regional specialty, and saucisse de Toulouse, a flavorful sausage. For a quick bite, grab a sandwich at the Marché Victor Hugo, where vendors sell fresh produce and prepared foods. For a sit-down meal, book a table at Le Bibent, a Belle Époque brasserie on Place du Capitole, known for its elegant setting and classic French cuisine. **📅 Seasonal Events and Weather** In 2026, the Festival de Toulouse, a celebration of music and arts, is scheduled for late June, offering free concerts across the city. Spring and fall are the best times to visit, with mild temperatures and fewer crowds. Summers can be hot, with temperatures often exceeding 30°C, so plan indoor activities during the afternoon. Winters are mild but rainy, so bring an umbrella and a light jacket.
