**🗺️ Where to Start** Begin your trip at the central Al-Haram Square, which is the heart of the city. Most hotels and hostels cluster within a 10-minute walk from here, making it an ideal base. The square is also the main hub for minibuses and taxis to other neighborhoods. **🏛️ Day 1: Historic Core** Spend your first morning at the Madinat Museum on Al-Mutanabbi Street, open 9 AM to 4 PM with an entry fee of 20 EGP. After lunch, walk 15 minutes to the Old Souk, where you can shop for spices and textiles until 7 PM. End the day with a sunset view from the Corniche, a 10-minute taxi ride costing about 15 EGP. **🍽️ Local Food Spots** For authentic koshari, head to El Tahrir Restaurant on Gamal Abdel Nasser Street, where a full plate costs 25 EGP. For dinner, try Al-Farouk Grill on Port Said Road, open until midnight, serving grilled meats with mezze for around 80 EGP per person. Street stalls near Al-Haram Square offer fresh sugarcane juice for 5 EGP. **🚌 Getting Around** Minibuses are the cheapest option, with most routes costing 5-10 EGP within the city. Taxis are widely available; agree on a fare before starting, typically 15-30 EGP for short trips. Walking is feasible between nearby neighborhoods, but allow 20-30 minutes between major attractions. **🌿 Day 2: Green Spaces** Start at the Botanical Gardens on Nile Street, open 8 AM to 6 PM with a 10 EGP entry fee. Take a 20-minute minibus (5 EGP) to Al-Azhar Park for a peaceful afternoon among fountains and shaded paths. The park closes at 10 PM, and entry is 15 EGP. **🛍️ Day 3: Markets and Souvenirs** Visit the Friday Market on Al-Mansour Street, operating from 7 AM to 2 PM, where you can find handmade crafts and antiques. In the afternoon, explore the Gold Bazaar on 26th July Street, open until 8 PM, with prices negotiable. Finish at the City Mall on Tahrir Street for modern shopping and a food court. **🌃 Best Evening Spots** For a relaxed evening, head to the rooftop cafe at the Grand Hotel on Al-Haram Square, open until 1 AM, with views of the city lights. Alternatively, the Cornice promenade comes alive after sunset with street performers and food stalls. A cup of mint tea at a sidewalk cafe costs around 10 EGP. **💰 Local Prices** A budget traveler can expect to spend about 300-400 EGP per day including accommodation, meals, and transport. Mid-range hotels near Al-Haram Square cost 500-800 EGP per night. Always carry small bills, as many vendors cannot change large notes.
