**🏞️ Start at Yunshan** Begin your Wugang trip at Yunshan National Forest Park, the city's green heart. The park's main trailhead is at the east gate, open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with an entrance fee of 60 RMB. The hike to the summit takes about two hours and rewards you with panoramic views of the surrounding karst peaks. **🏯 Explore Ancient Town** Wugang's old town, centered on Guangming Street, is a maze of Ming and Qing dynasty architecture. Don't miss the Chen Family Ancestral Hall, which dates to 1520 and features intricate wood carvings. Entry is free, but the hall closes at 5:00 p.m., so plan to visit in the afternoon. **🍜 Taste Local Noodles** For a true taste of Wugang, try the city's signature rice noodles at Lao Wang Noodle House, located at 12 Jiefang Road. A bowl of their spicy beef noodles costs just 12 RMB and is best enjoyed before 10:00 a.m., when the broth is freshest. The shop has been run by the same family since 1985, and the recipe hasn't changed. **🚌 Getting Around** Wugang's public bus system covers most attractions, with fares starting at 2 RMB. Bus 3 runs from the train station to Yunshan's east gate every 20 minutes from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. For more flexibility, taxis are cheap, with most rides within the city under 15 RMB, but be sure to use the meter. **🌃 Evening Riverside Walk** As the sun sets, head to the Zi River promenade, which stretches from the old bridge to the new pedestrian bridge. The walkway is lit with lanterns, and street vendors set up along the path selling grilled skewers and sweet tofu. It's a favorite spot for locals to stroll after dinner, especially on weekends. **🏺 Visit Pottery Village** About 20 minutes outside the city center, the village of Taoyuan is famous for its handmade pottery, a craft passed down for generations. You can watch artisans at work at the Taoyuan Kiln Workshop, open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and buy a piece directly from the source. A small bowl costs around 30 RMB, and the potters are happy to explain their techniques. **💡 Local Prices** Wugang is a budget-friendly destination, with a decent meal at a local restaurant costing about 25 RMB per person. Attraction fees are modest, rarely exceeding 60 RMB, and public transport is very affordable. Bring cash, as many small vendors and rural attractions do not accept credit cards. **🎒 Best Day Trip** If you have an extra day, take a bus from the south station to the Longtan Waterfall, about an hour away. The falls are at their most powerful in early summer, and the 30 RMB entrance fee includes access to several smaller cascades. Pack a picnic, as there are no restaurants inside the park, and wear sturdy shoes for the slippery paths.
