**🏞️ Explore Baizhangji Waterfall** Baizhangji Waterfall, located about 25 kilometers west of Wencheng town center, is one of the tallest waterfalls in China with a drop of 207 meters. The entrance fee is 65 yuan, and it's open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A shuttle bus from Wencheng Bus Station runs every 30 minutes and costs 10 yuan. Insider tip: visit after a rain for the most impressive flow, and take the elevator up to save energy for the walking trails. **🏘️ Wander Ancient Liukeng Village** Liukeng Village, a well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty settlement, is just 10 kilometers from Wencheng town. There's no entrance fee, and you can explore the stone lanes, ancestral halls, and old bridges at your own pace. Local families sell homemade rice wine and dried bamboo shoots from their doorsteps. Go on a weekday morning to avoid crowds and catch villagers going about their daily routines. **⛰️ Hike Tongling Mountain Trails** Tongling Mountain, about 15 kilometers north of Wencheng, offers a network of well-marked hiking trails through bamboo forests and tea terraces. The main loop takes 3 to 4 hours and is free to access. Start early to avoid the midday heat, and bring plenty of water as there are few shops along the route. The summit provides panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. **🍜 Savor Local Wencheng Cuisine** Wencheng is famous for its tender bamboo shoots and mountain vegetables. Head to the night market on Renmin Road, open from 5:00 PM to midnight, where stalls sell bamboo shoot noodles for around 15 yuan and grilled river fish for 20 yuan. For a sit-down meal, try the family-run restaurants near the bus station that serve hearty clay-pot dishes. Don't miss the local rice wine, often homemade and sold in small jars. **🚌 Getting Around Wencheng** Wencheng has a compact town center that's easy to explore on foot. For attractions further out, local buses depart from the main bus station on Chengzhong Road, with fares ranging from 2 to 10 yuan. Taxis are scarce, but you can hire a private car for about 200 yuan per day to visit multiple sites. Ride-hailing apps like Didi work in town but may have limited availability in rural areas. **🏨 Where to Stay in Wencheng** Most visitors stay in the town center, where options range from budget guesthouses at 80 yuan per night to mid-range hotels like the Wencheng International Hotel at around 300 yuan. For a more immersive experience, consider a homestay in Liukeng Village, where rooms start at 120 yuan and often include breakfast. Book ahead during Chinese holidays, as rooms fill up quickly. **🎋 Join a Bamboo Craft Workshop** Wencheng is known for its bamboo weaving, and several local artisans offer hands-on workshops. The Wencheng Bamboo Craft Center on Xinhua Street runs 2-hour sessions for 50 yuan, where you can make a small basket or coaster. Workshops are usually held in the afternoons, but call ahead to confirm. It's a great way to learn about local heritage and take home a unique souvenir. **🌙 Enjoy Evening Riverside Strolls** The Feiyun River runs through Wencheng, and the riverside promenade comes alive in the evening with locals walking, jogging, and chatting. Street vendors sell snacks like roasted sweet potatoes and bubble tea from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The illuminated bridges create a romantic atmosphere, especially near the old town area. It's a relaxing way to end a day of sightseeing.
