**🏔️ Explore Wudang Mountain** Wudang Mountain is the crown jewel of Shiyan, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the birthplace of Tai Chi. Take the cable car up to the Golden Hall for panoramic views, then hike down through ancient temples like the Purple Cloud Temple. Entry is 140 RMB, and the cable car costs 80 RMB one way. Plan a full day to appreciate the scenery and martial arts culture. **🚗 Visit the Danjiangkou Reservoir** The Danjiangkou Reservoir is the source of the South-North Water Transfer Project and offers a serene escape from the city. You can take a boat tour from the Danjiangkou Dam for around 60 RMB per person. The best time to visit is spring or autumn when the water is clear and the surrounding hills are lush. **🏛️ Discover Shiyan Museum** Shiyan Museum on Beijing Road houses artifacts from the region's ancient Ba and Chu cultures, as well as exhibits on the Three Gorges migration. Admission is free with a valid ID, and it is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed on Mondays. The museum is a great place to understand the area's history before exploring further. **🍜 Taste Local Wudang Cuisine** Shiyan's food scene is influenced by its mountainous location, with specialties like Wudang tofu and wild mushroom hotpot. Head to Wudangshan Town's food street near the mountain entrance for authentic dishes. A meal at a local restaurant costs around 40-60 RMB per person. Don't miss the steamed fish from Danjiangkou. **🚌 Getting Around Shiyan** Shiyan has a decent public bus system with fares starting at 1 RMB, but taxis are more convenient for reaching Wudang Mountain. A taxi from Shiyan city center to the Wudang Mountain scenic area costs about 80-100 RMB. For a more flexible option, consider renting a car with a driver for around 300 RMB per day. **🌃 Evening Stroll at People's Park** People's Park in the city center is a popular spot for locals to relax in the evening, with a lake, walking paths, and small amusement rides. It is free to enter and stays open until 10:00 PM. Grab a bubble tea from a nearby shop and join the tai chi groups practicing at dusk. **⛰️ Hike the Taizi Slope** For a less crowded alternative to Wudang's main peaks, hike the Taizi Slope trail which offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys. The trail starts near the Wudang Mountain ticket office and takes about 2-3 hours round trip. It is free after paying the mountain entry fee, and you will encounter few tourists. **🛍️ Shop at Wudang Specialty Market** The Wudang Specialty Market near the mountain entrance sells local products like Wudang tea, herbal medicines, and martial arts swords. Prices are negotiable, so bargain politely. A bag of high-quality Wudang green tea costs around 50-100 RMB. The market is open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
