**🏖️ Beach Days Done Right** Yalong Bay is the postcard beach with powdery sand and calm water, but it gets crowded by 10 AM, so arrive early to claim a spot near the public access at Yalong Bay Square. For a quieter alternative, head to Haitang Bay, where the beach is just as beautiful but less developed, and you can rent a lounge chair for around 50 RMB. If you want to escape the crowds entirely, take a taxi to Xiaodonghai, a small cove near Luhuitou Park that locals love for its rocky shoreline and sunset views. **🌴 Explore Luhuitou Park** Luhuitou Park sits on a peninsula overlooking Sanya Bay and offers the best panoramic views of the city and sea. The main attraction is the giant statue of a deer turning its head, based on a local legend, and you can climb to the top for a 360-degree vista. Entry costs 42 RMB, and it's open from 7:30 AM to 10 PM; go around 5 PM to catch the sunset without the midday heat. **🙏 Nanshan Temple Visit** The Nanshan Buddhism Cultural Park is home to the 108-meter Guanyin statue, one of the tallest in the world, standing on a man-made island just off the coast. It's about 40 kilometers west of downtown Sanya, so allow half a day for the trip; a taxi from Yalong Bay costs around 100 RMB. Entry is 129 RMB, and you can easily spend three to four hours wandering the temples and gardens. Dress respectfully, as it's an active religious site. **🐠 Snorkeling and Diving** Wuzhizhou Island, a short ferry ride from Haitang Bay, is the top spot for snorkeling and diving with clear water and vibrant coral. A day trip package including ferry and equipment rental runs about 300 RMB, and the best visibility is from November to April. For a less touristy experience, try Fenjiezhou Island, where you can swim with whale sharks in a semi-wild enclosure for around 200 RMB. Book through your hotel to avoid scams at the pier. **🍜 Eat Like a Local** Sanya's food scene goes beyond hotel buffets; head to the First Market in downtown Sanya for fresh seafood where you pick your catch and have it cooked at nearby stalls. Expect to pay around 100 RMB per person for a feast of grilled prawns, crab, and clams. For Hainanese chicken rice, try Wenchang Chicken Restaurant on Jiefang Road, a local institution open from 10 AM to 10 PM. Don't miss a bowl of coconut chicken soup, a Sanya specialty. **🚡 Ride the Cable Car** The Phoenix Ridge Cable Car, also known as the Sanya Cable Car, takes you from downtown to the top of Phoenix Hill for sweeping views of Sanya Bay and the city skyline. A round-trip ticket costs 60 RMB, and the ride takes about 10 minutes each way. It's open from 8:30 AM to 10 PM, and the best time to go is late afternoon to see the sunset. At the top, there's a small park and a cafe where you can relax. **🛍️ Shop at Duty-Free** The Sanya International Duty-Free Shopping Complex in Haitang Bay is one of the largest in the world, with over 300 brands including luxury fashion, cosmetics, and electronics. It's open from 10 AM to 10 PM, and you can get there by free shuttle from many hotels. Prices are often 20-30% cheaper than in mainland China, but bring your passport and flight ticket to qualify for the tax-free allowance. Plan to spend at least half a day here. **🌃 Evening Entertainment** For a lively night out, head to the Sanya River area, where you'll find bars and restaurants along the waterfront, especially around the Times Coast Plaza. The Sanya Romance Park puts on a large-scale song and dance show about local legends at 5 PM and 8 PM, with tickets starting at 280 RMB. If you prefer something more relaxed, take a night cruise on Sanya Bay for about 150 RMB and enjoy the illuminated skyline.
