**🏯 Explore the Tulou** Longyan is the gateway to the Fujian Tulou, the UNESCO-listed earthen buildings that are a must-see. Head to the Hongkeng Tulou Cluster in Yongding County, about 1.5 hours from downtown Longyan. The most famous building, Chengqi Lou, is a massive circular structure with four concentric rings, and entry costs around 50 RMB. **🏞️ Hike at Guanzhai Mountain** For a dose of nature, visit Guanzhai Mountain National Forest Park, located just 30 minutes from Longyan city center. The park features dramatic red sandstone cliffs, waterfalls, and a glass-bottomed bridge that offers stunning views. Admission is 60 RMB, and the hike to the summit takes about two hours. **🍜 Taste Local Delicacies** Longyan's food scene is a highlight, with specialties like niang doufu (stuffed tofu) and yan tao (salt-baked chicken). Head to the night market on Zhongshan Road for affordable street food, where most dishes cost between 10 and 30 RMB. Don't miss the local taro cake, a crispy snack sold at many stalls. **🏛️ Visit the Longyan Museum** The Longyan Museum on Renmin Road offers a deep dive into the region's Hakka culture and revolutionary history. It is free to enter and open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed on Mondays. The exhibits include artifacts from the Tulou and displays about the area's role in the Chinese Civil War. **🚌 Getting Around** Longyan has a small but efficient bus network, with fares starting at 1 RMB. For Tulou trips, take bus K1 from Longyan Bus Station to Yongding (20 RMB, 1.5 hours), then transfer to a local minibus. Taxis are also affordable, with a ride across the city rarely exceeding 30 RMB. **🌃 Evening Stroll by the River** As dusk falls, the Longyan Riverside Walkway along the Ting River lights up with colorful lanterns. It is a peaceful spot for a stroll, with benches and small pavilions along the path. Nearby, the Xinluo Night Market offers snacks and souvenirs, staying busy until around 10 PM. **⛰️ Day Trip to Liancheng** About an hour north of Longyan, Liancheng County is home to the stunning Guanhua Mountain, known for its unique Danxia landforms. The area has several hiking trails and a cable car (round trip 80 RMB) that saves time. It is less crowded than Guanzhai, making it a great alternative for nature lovers.
