**🏯 Start at Ancestral Temple** The Foshan Ancestral Temple (21 Zumiao Road, Chancheng) is the city's cultural heart, dedicated to the Northern Emperor. Built in the 11th century, it features intricate woodcarvings, pottery, and a museum of martial arts. Allow at least two hours to explore the halls and gardens. **🥟 Eat Like a Local** Foshan is the birthplace of Cantonese dim sum, so head to Tianji Restaurant (118 Fenjiang Middle Road) for authentic har gow and siu mai. For a quick bite, try the wonton noodles at Yingji (10 Jianxin Road), a local favorite since the 1930s. Most dishes cost between 15 and 40 RMB. **🎭 Watch a Lion Dance** Foshan is famous for its lion dance performances, especially at the Xiqiao Mountain Scenic Area (Xiqiao Town). Shows happen daily at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM, with tickets around 50 RMB. For a more intimate experience, visit the Huang Feihong Martial Arts Hall inside the Ancestral Temple. **🏺 Explore Shiwan Pottery** The Shiwan area (about 8 km southwest of downtown) is known for its ceramic art. Visit the Shiwan Ceramics Museum (6 Gaomiao Road) to see ancient and modern pieces, then browse the workshops on Shiwan Street. Many artisans sell small souvenirs for 20-100 RMB. **🌳 Stroll Through Qinghui Garden** Located in nearby Shunde district (23 Qinghui Road, Daliang), this Ming dynasty garden is a masterpiece of classical Chinese landscaping. It features pavilions, ponds, and ancient banyan trees. Admission is 15 RMB, and it's open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. **🚇 Getting Around** Foshan's metro system (Line 1 and Guangfo Line) connects major attractions like Zumiao Station and Kuiqi Lu Station. A single ride costs 2-8 RMB. For farther spots like Shiwan or Xiqiao, take a bus or Didi (ride-hailing) for about 20-50 RMB. Taxis start at 10 RMB. **🛍️ Shop at Zumiao Bazaar** The pedestrian street outside the Ancestral Temple is lined with shops selling Foshan's famous paper umbrellas, wooden combs, and local snacks. Bargaining is expected, so start at half the asking price. The bazaar is busiest on weekends and public holidays. **🌃 Evening Along the Fenjiang River** As night falls, the Fenjiang River promenade (near Fenjiang Road) lights up with colorful bridges and reflections. Grab a bubble tea from a street stall and walk from Zhongshan Bridge to the Cultural Park. It's a peaceful way to end your day, and it's free.
