**🍜 Must-Try Khmer Dishes** Start with fish amok, a steamed coconut curry served in a banana leaf, and beef lok lak, stir-fried beef with a lime and pepper dip. Nom banh chok, the famous Khmer noodles with fish-based green curry, is a breakfast staple sold for around 8,000 to 12,000 riel (2 to 3 USD) at stalls near Psar Chas (Old Market). Another favorite is kuy teav, a pork or beef noodle soup often eaten in the morning for about 10,000 riel. For dessert, try num ansom chek, sticky rice with banana, or sankhya lapov, a pumpkin custard. **🏮 Old Market Street Food** The area around Psar Chas (Old Market) on Street 2 Thnou comes alive at night with grilled skewers, fresh spring rolls, and fruit shakes. Vendors typically charge 1 to 2 USD per skewer or 5,000 to 10,000 riel for a plate of fried noodles. Look for stalls near the intersection with Pub Street, but for better prices, walk a block north toward Street 11. The market opens around 6 AM and street food runs until about 10 PM. **🍽️ Sit-Down Khmer Restaurants** For a comfortable sit-down meal, try Chanrey Tree at Pokambor Avenue, where mains like amok and lok lak cost 6 to 10 USD. Another reliable choice is Mahob Khmer Cuisine on Road 60, near Sivatha Boulevard, with set menus from 12 USD. Khmer Kitchen on Street 2 Thnou offers generous portions of classic dishes for 3 to 5 USD. Most restaurants open for lunch from 11 AM and close by 10 PM. **🌮 International and Fusion Eats** Siem Reap has a strong international scene, especially around Kandal Village on Hap Guan Street. Try The Little Red Fox Espresso for Australian-style brunch, with dishes from 4 to 8 USD, open daily 7 AM to 5 PM. For Mexican, Viva on Street 8 serves tacos and burritos from 3 to 6 USD. Indian food lovers head to Curry Walla on Sivatha Boulevard, where thalis start at 5 USD. **🍺 Pub Street and Nightlife Bites** Pub Street is the center of nightlife, but the food is best at the surrounding alleys. Try the grilled crocodile or snake skewers at stalls on Street 8 for a daring snack, priced around 2 to 4 USD. For a sit-down meal, Temple Club on Pub Street offers Khmer and Western dishes from 5 USD, open until midnight. After 10 PM, late-night spots like Angkor Famous on Street 2 Thnou serve fried rice and noodles for about 3 USD. **☕ Cafes and Breakfast Spots** Start your day at Sister Srey Cafe on Street 26, near the river, which supports local students and serves breakfast from 3 to 6 USD, open 7 AM to 5 PM. For great coffee, The Bean Embassy on Street 26 roasts its own beans and sells pastries from 2 USD. Another favorite is Footprint Cafes on Street 26, with healthy bowls and smoothies from 4 USD. Most cafes open by 7 AM and close by 6 PM. **💰 Budget and Mid-Range Prices** Street food and local eateries are very affordable, with meals costing 1 to 3 USD. Mid-range restaurants charge 4 to 10 USD per main dish, while upscale places like Cuisine Wat Damnak offer tasting menus from 35 USD. A typical day of eating street food and local restaurants can cost under 15 USD. Note that prices in 2026 may be slightly higher due to inflation, so carry small riel notes for vendors. **🚶 Food Neighborhoods to Explore** Beyond the Old Market, check out Kandal Village for trendy cafes and boutiques, and Wat Bo Village for local Khmer eateries along Wat Bo Road. The Riverside area near Street 26 has a mix of international and Khmer restaurants with river views. For authentic local food, head to Phsar Leu Thom Thmey (New Market) on National Road 6, where you'll find stalls selling grilled meats and noodles for 1 to 2 USD. These neighborhoods are easily reachable by tuk-tuk for 2 to 5 USD from the center.
