Is 85,000 VND normal for coffee in Ho Chi Minh City 2026?

Is that a normal price for a sit-down cafe in Ho Chi Minh City in 2026, or am I being charged tourist rates?

85k is tourist rate, 40-50k is normal.

Depends on the beans, arabica pushes it higher.

Beans matter but rent matters more. The Salty sits on a Nguyen Trai corner with AC and seats, so you're paying for the room. A 45k arabica ca phe sua da on a plastic stool is still the best value in town.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Rent on that corner plus the AC is really what you're paying for, the actual coffee cost is maybe 15 to 20k of that cup.

true, robusta vs arabica swings teh price a lot. but honestly the salted cream and the extra prep prob matter just as much at that point.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

robusta ca phe sua da still hits 30 to 35k

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

sure but the milk and salted cream usually cost more than the bean upgrade itself at most places

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Fair for the plain ca phe sua da, but salted coffee runs 55 to 65k even at non-touristy spots.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Agree, but sit-down spots on Dong Khoi run 70k plus

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Only at the old spots off the main roads.

Quan com Nga on Hoang Sa is more of a quick lunch spot than a sit down meal honestly. Com tam plates around there run 40k to 60k dong depending on toppings. For a proper sit down, the spots on Vo Van Tan are worth the walk.
