The Salty Coffee sits on Nguyen Trai in District 5, a bit removed from the District 1 backpacker area, so Grab is easier than walking from the main road if you're not nearby. Grab bikes handle that street fine, though traffic peaks around 7 to 8am.

Traffic on that stretch thins out after 9, so a later start beats fighting the motorbike crush.

Fair point, but the shop itself gets packed by mid morning so earlier is still better if you want a seat.

yeah, Nguyen Trai traffic is no joke but the coffee's worth it

Makes sense, morning rush there is rough.

honestly by 730 it's already gridlocked so aiming for 7 or earlier is teh move if you want calm

Good call on the Grab, though I'd add that the alley entrance is easy to overshoot since there's no big sign out front.

I went last year and it's not a tourist trap, mostly Vietnamese families grilling at the table. Book ahead for Saturday, walk-ins get squeezed after 7pm. Beyond octopus they do scallops, shrimp, and a decent bò nướng you cook yourself. Prices sit around 200k to 300k per person with drinks. It's on a side street in District 3, a short Grab ride from the center, so worth it if you're nearby rather than a special trip.

Scallops sell out by 8pm, go early.

Agreed, and the ốc hương (babylonia snails) go even faster, so order those the moment you sit down.

Book by phone rather than Facebook since the owner rarely checks messages during service.
