if you go a bit further north to de land, stetson university's campus has this gorgeous brick architecture and giant live oaks that feel like a movie set. the artisan alley farmers market on saturdays has local honey and handmade stuff, plus a taco spot called la comida callejera that does legit birria. about an hour from orlando but totally worth it for the small town feel without the tourist crowds

honestly skip the springs hype and head to mount dora instead. it's about 45 mins north and has this really chill old florida vibe with antique shops and a lakefront that's actually walkable. grab lunch at the 1921 mount dora, their burger is solid and the patio overlooks the water. if you're into weird roadside stuff, the reptile discovery center in the same area is surprisingly fun for an hour or two

i'd actually go south toward lakeland instead of north. the frank lloyd wright architecture at florida southern college is legit impressive, whole campus is basically a museum. about 50 mins from orlando. the bonnet springs preserve nearby has this boardwalk thru the wetlands where you'll see gators and herons without the disney price tag. grab coffee at concord coffee on massachusetts ave, they roast their own beans and it's in this old house with a porch
