solid itinerary but a few things i'd tweak. the Oso Creek trailhead at the community center gets packed on weekends, park at the Crown Valley side instead and you'll actually find a spot. also the farmers market moved to the lot off Chrisanta a while back, still sundays 9 to 1, just dont show up expecting the old La Paz layout. and for day 3, Red Rock Canyon gets brutal by 10am in summer, go at 7 sharp or you'll be baking.
Appreciate the effort here, especially the note about the lake being residents-only since that trips up a lot of visitors. One thing the guide gets slightly off is the Shops at Mission Viejo hours on Sunday, they're 11 to 6 not 7, and the Apple store there closes earlier than the mall itself most nights. For Day 2, if you're doing the library anyway, the Norman P. Murray center next door has that small gallery but honestly the better move is the Mission Viejo Library's used book sale room, cash only, dirt cheap paperbacks. And on Day 3, Whiting Ranch fills its lot by 8am on weekends, so either go early or park at the Ralphs on Portola and walk in.
The itinerary covers the big stuff well, but Day 1 is missing the one thing I'd tell any first-timer: the lake trail is technically open to non-residents but the gate off Melinda sometimes has a guard checking, so go with a resident or hit it before 8am when nobody's at the booth. For Day 2 evening, nobody ever mentions the Murray Center's summer concert series at the amphitheater, free shows most Friday nights in July and August, bring a lawn chair and it beats a movie ticket. And on Day 3, if the Whiting Ranch lot is full, the Portola staging area past the Ralphs is the backup most people don't know about, same trails, way less hassle.
