They still run flights Saturday afternoons, but call ahead since it's first come and the 2pm fills up; from Echo Park I'd take Sunset to the 405 rather than sit on the 10.

The 405 north off Sunset dumps you right at Santa Monica Blvd, so allow 45 minutes with traffic.

Forty five minutes is optimistic on a weekday, I'd budget an hour and skip the freeway via Beverly if it's backed up past the 101.

That stretch is fine but the ramp backs up past the church on Sundays, and weekend timing changes everything. I'd still cut over on Ohio instead of waiting it out.

Figured the flights would be the tricky part. Do they still pour the spring oolongs this early or is it mostly last year's harvest?

Calling ahead is smart, though I'd ask if they're pouring the spring oolongs yet since that changes whether the drive is worth it.

Good call on dodging the 10, though I'd cut over at Bellevue before hitting the 405 because the on-ramp gets jammed around midday. Ask about the 11am flight too, it's quieter and you actually get to talk to the pourer.

Never bother driving it. Take the Expo Line to Bundy and walk up, saves you the parking headache on Sawtelle entirely.

Bundy stop drops u on the wrong side for the tea shop so cut through the expo bike path instead of olympic

Anyone else hit up Levain & Co on weekends? Their laminated stuff is legit but I wanna branch out, so where are u getting your croissant fix nearby? Drop recs please. Proof Bakery, order the kouign amann instead.

Second this, the kouign amann sells out by ten.

Fair call, though I'd get there by 8 on Saturday since the case thins out fast.

what u getting there besides the kouign amann tho

Their pain au chocolat is the real sleeper there, and the line moves quicker than the laminated case suggests.

Yep, but get there closer to 7:30, the kouign amann tray's usually gone by 8:15 on a weekday too.

If you're near the Larchmont spot, Clark Street does a solid almond croissant and their bread is worth the detour. On weekends go before 9 or the case gets picked over. Expect to pay around $6.

The almond croissant is worth it but I'd skip the weekend crush entirely and go Tuesday around 8, when the case is still full and there's no line. Heads up that parking on that stretch is permit-only after 8am, so read the signs.
