Is the vintage shopping around there worth a whole afternoon, or should I head somewhere else? Also is there a bus pass that makes hopping between shops easier?

honestly "Vintage Avenue" isn't a real street here, so double check the address on ur booking. if u mean Melrose, the stretch around Fairfax has the good stuff. a TAP card covers buses and the Metro, way easier than driving between shops.

The TAP card also works on the DASH buses, and the Sunset Junction thrift spots are worth a look too.

Good call on the address check. Worth adding that most of those shops don't open till 11 or noon, so don't show up at 9 expecting to browse. A day pass on the TAP card runs $5 and change, cheaper than paying per ride.

Jet Rag on Sunday, dollar pile out front.

Fairfax is right but most of those shops sit north of Melrose toward Santa Monica Blvd, so walk that block. A single ride is $1.75 and transfers are free within two hours, which beats a day pass if you're only hopping a couple times.

True, and a lot of those spots sit upstairs or behind the street-level stores, so poke around instead of judging from the sidewalk.

yeah the two hour transfer thing is underrated. one catch though, tap the card again on the second bus or the driver may side-eye u. and bring cash, a few of those spots are cash only or have a $10 minimum

Agreed, and worth noting that a lot of those storefronts only open Thursday through Sunday, so a weekday afternoon can feel picked over.

Also check the cross street, some listings get vague.

If you're after actual vintage, I'd point you to the shops along Magnolia in Burbank or the cluster on La Brea, both worth a solid afternoon.

Boil & Bake sits around Silver Lake Blvd, and honestly the best budget move is just walking up to Sunset Junction. There's a decent spot on Sunset near Sanborn that does a solid everything bagel for under four bucks, cash is quicker but every place I go takes Visa and Mastercard fine, Amex is hit or miss. Foreign cards with chip work pretty much everywhere, just tell your bank you're traveling so the fraud hold doesn't bite you at the counter.

Second this. Bank of America ATM on Hyperion for cash.

The Rowena corridor up in Atwater is only a ten minute drive and Yeastie Boys does proper bagels for about five bucks. Order at the window, there's no seating. Pull a twenty from any ATM just to be safe.

Bagel Broker on Beverly, before 9.

No seating is the whole point, grab it to go.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Cash only at the tiny spots on Glendale Blvd, pull twenties.
