Do people actually meet at places like Patisserie Lune on a Saturday morning, or is it all apps and setup through friends? Curious what has surprised other locals about how dating works here in 2026.

Honestly the neighborhood still dictates it. Westside leans apps and brunch setups; Eastside you'll meet people at a bar like Gold Line on a Tuesday. Patisserie Lune works if you're a regular, not a one-time Saturday drop-in.

Agreed on the regulars thing. It's the third or fourth visit where the barista or the guy at the next table actually starts a conversation. One-time drop-ins mostly just get the menu stare and a to-go cup.

Los Feliz, Alcove on Vermont, weekday mornings.

Neighborhood matters less than parking, since nobody commits to a 20 minute drive for a maybe, which is why everyone dates within a few zip codes.

Trader Joe's on Hyperion at 8pm on a weeknight is genuinely a pickup scene, people linger by the wine.

Best pub food near The Anchor in Los Angeles 2026

The Anchor on Main in Venice is my go-to when I want a proper pint and something better than standard bar food. Their fish and chips hold up and the back patio is worth grabbing on a warm evening. Go… The Anchor on Main in Venice is my go-to when I want a proper pint and something better than standard bar food. Their fish and chips hold up and the back patio is worth grabbing on a warm evening. Go before 6 on weekdays if you want to avoid the crowd, since it fills up fast after that.

Ye Olde King's Head in Santa Monica does a proper Sunday roast and curry chips, worth the ten minute drive up Lincoln.

Book a table for roast, walk-ins get turned away.

The Anchor's kitchen is solid but I'd also walk two blocks to Hinano Cafe on Washington if you want a burger and a beer without the sit-down feel. Cash only, which catches people out. The Anchor patio is still the better call for a group, though the fish and chips at Hinano are cheaper and the crowd is more local than tourist on weeknights.

honestly i always forget the cash thing til im at teh counter, atm across the street saved me once

Hinano's is a solid call, just mind the parking situation on Washington after 6. The little lot behind fills up quick and street spots vanish, so bike or walk if you can.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Parking on that stretch is permit-only after 6, so check the signs before you commit to a street spot.

That deal runs Monday to Thursday only and stops at 7 sharp, so don't roll in at 6:50 expecting to order two.
