Lutie sits in Chinatown, so from downtown it's a quick ride on the 81 or a cheap rideshare, maybe 10 minutes. Weekends are walk in only as far as I know, no reservations, and the line builds by 9:30, so go early. Get the miso caramel latte and the mentaiko toast; skip the pastries, they look better than they taste.

yeah the 81 drops u right by it, honestly I'd just walk from union station if the weathers nice. heads up they close mondays, learned that the hard way. also the matcha there is solid if coffee isnt your thing

The line actually moves fast since they turn tables quick, and the sesame latte is the sleeper hit over the miso caramel.

Parking on Hill St is a nightmare, so get dropped off on Broadway and walk up.

Mentaiko toast sells out by 11, order it first.

Correct on the pastries, but the yuzu one's decent.

9:30 is about right but saturdays the line snakes past the door by 10. if u can do a weekday morning its way chiller. also cash only for the tip jar if that matters to u

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Ten minutes is optimistic during rush hour, and I'd budget twenty from most of downtown since the 81 crawls through Chinatown.

Weekday opens at 8, beat the whole crowd.

Eight is right but you'll still wait if you roll in at 8:15. I'd show up closer to 7:45 since they start seating a bit before.

On the east coast thing, I've done the 6am start and the honest tradeoff is you lose Villa entirely since they open at 7. If your team's calls cluster before 9 Pacific, consider a co-working day pass a couple times a week instead of trying to make one cafe do everything.

Co-working day pass, Culver City, saves the 7am open.

Fair warning though, most of those spots in Culver City want you out by early afternoon too, so it's not the all-day fix people make it out to be.

Past 3pm they start stacking chairs.

Yeah, the 2pm rush from the Sawtelle lunch crowd is the real signal, once those tables clear out you're on borrowed time.

The chair stacking is real but it's the music that shifts first, they kill the playlist around 2:45 and the room goes cold. I've stretched to 4 once and the barista started wiping my table while I was still typing.

That table wipe is the universal last call.

Yep, and the espresso machine getting shut down right after.

By 3:15 they're flipping the chairs onto tables, which is a louder hint than the stacking. I've also noticed the pastry case gets emptied by then, so if you want anything decent, grab it before the midday rush.

meter parking on the side street flips to permit only around 4 so that's usually what pushes me out, not the staff
