Leaf blower at 3 AM?

Seriously, why? Let's commiserate.

fwiw i think it might be the 24 hour gym over on fountain, they have that parking garage and the cleaning crew hits the ramps with blowers before sunrise sometimes. i've watched them do it from my balcony, they're done by 4 but it's still obnoxious. if it's the same dude every time, try the myla311 app with the exact timestamp and location, they actually respond to repeat complaints faster than you'd think, i got a follow up call once after filing on a neighbor's dog barking. earplugs are a bandaid but honestly a white noise machine aimed at the window works better for that high pitched whine.

Yeah, that's almost certainly not a city crew, those guys are done by midnight. I've lived off Fountain for years and it's usually a landscaping company doing a "night shift" for a client who doesn't want to see them during the day, or sometimes a property manager trying to beat the heat, which makes no sense at 3 AM but here we are. Have you tried calling the non-emergency LAPD line at (877) 275-5273? They'll actually roll by if you frame it as a disturbance, I've had luck with the Hollywood division that way. If it's the same spot every time, a noise complaint to the city's 311 app tends to get a warning posted, which at least gives you a paper trail if it keeps happening.

It might be worth checking if it's tied to one of the production studios nearby, they sometimes run overnight shoots and the crews use blowers to clean up set debris before wrap. I've seen that happen around the lot off Van Ness a few times, and they don't think twice about the hour because they're on a call sheet. If you catch them in the act, asking for their company name or permit number usually gets a faster response than a complaint, since they're supposed to notify neighbors for night work anyway. Otherwise, earplugs are a sad but reliable backup, I've got a pair by my bed for the same reason.

How can I find mobile hot dog vendors for a private event?

These vendors typically operate from portable carts or vehicles at public gatherings. Does anyone have information on how to contact such vendors or recommendations for reliable services?

honestly the SGV has a ton of licensed cart operators who mostly do private stuff now. look up "hot dog cart catering San Gabriel Valley" on Yelp and you'll get a handful that are fully permitted, which matters if your venue needs a health permit on file. expect around $400 to $700 for a few hours plus a per person minimum, usually 50 or so. the ones based in Alhambra and Rosemead tend to be cheaper than Pasadena because they're not paying that rent.

fwiw the county health dept keeps a public list of permitted mobile food operators, its searchable by city on the LA County Public Health site. filter for "pushcart" or "MFF" and you'll get vendors cleared for SGV zip codes, which saves you the headache of a venue asking for paperwork later. also worth checking with the Old Town Monrovia or Alhambra farmers market folks, the carts there are usually booked solid but they know who's free and they'll pass along names. just dont wait till the last week, good ones book out 2 to 3 weeks in teh summer.

You could try hitting up the folks who set up outside Home Depot or the DMV in El Monte on weekends, a lot of those carts are owner operated and they'll do private gigs if you ask. Just walk up and grab a card, they usually have one taped to the cart.
