Hi everyone, I'm headed to the US for the first time and will be in LA for 5 days.

I have plans in the first 4 days to see and do touristy things and on my 5th day I'm contemplating if it's a good idea to head up to Disneyland or just continue to explore LA?

Issue is that the travel time would be really long from my understanding (taking the train), so I'm afraid it's too packed. I won't be doing park hopper if I go, just DL. I'm not a crazily huge fan but I do like Disney and have been to the DisneySea in Tokyo and Disneyland in Hongkong. Just unsure about also spending the whole day in lines as I'll be going around Christmas as well. If I do go, I will be getting Genie+.

I already have plans to check out San Diego and SF so this would really just be between DL or LA, thank you!!

Five days in LA with San Diego and SF already on the schedule is a lot of ground, and day five is when jet lag usually catches up with you. If you're coming from Tokyo or Hong Kong, the time change is brutal going east, so a 6am start to catch the Metrolink or Amtrak to Anaheim might feel miserable by then. Genie+ helps with wait times but it doesn't shorten the 90 minute lines for the big rides during the holiday crush, and you'd be paying peak pricing on top of it. If you're not a hardcore Disney person and you've already done Tokyo and Hong Kong, I'd spend that fifth day on something like the Getty and a walk along the Venice canals, or head down to Manhattan Beach for a slower morning. Save Disneyland for a trip where you can give it two days and stay near the park.

The train from Union Station to Anaheim takes about an hour, not that bad honestly. But the lines at DL during the holidays are no joke.

Christmas week at Disneyland is genuinely mobbed, so I'd lean toward more LA.

How can I find mobile hot dog vendors for a private event?

These vendors typically operate from portable carts or vehicles at public gatherings. Does anyone have information on how to contact such vendors or recommendations for reliable services?

honestly the SGV has a ton of licensed cart operators who mostly do private stuff now. look up "hot dog cart catering San Gabriel Valley" on Yelp and you'll get a handful that are fully permitted, which matters if your venue needs a health permit on file. expect around $400 to $700 for a few hours plus a per person minimum, usually 50 or so. the ones based in Alhambra and Rosemead tend to be cheaper than Pasadena because they're not paying that rent.

fwiw the county health dept keeps a public list of permitted mobile food operators, its searchable by city on the LA County Public Health site. filter for "pushcart" or "MFF" and you'll get vendors cleared for SGV zip codes, which saves you the headache of a venue asking for paperwork later. also worth checking with the Old Town Monrovia or Alhambra farmers market folks, the carts there are usually booked solid but they know who's free and they'll pass along names. just dont wait till the last week, good ones book out 2 to 3 weeks in teh summer.

You could try hitting up the folks who set up outside Home Depot or the DMV in El Monte on weekends, a lot of those carts are owner operated and they'll do private gigs if you ask. Just walk up and grab a card, they usually have one taped to the cart.
