Postpone Jury Duty in LA?
I'm a full time community college student (taking 2 classes over Winter) and going out of state at the start of jury duty.

It's my first time getting summoned so is there a way to postpone and reschedule my date?
yeah you can def postpone, just go on the la superior court website and hit the reschedule button, it's super easy. you get one automatic postponement up to like 6 months out, no questions asked. since you're out of state at the start date, pick a week after you're back and classes wrap up, that's the move.
also winter session at cc's is brutal, so don't stress about proving anything. they don't ask for docs unless you're trying to get excused entirely, which is harder. just do it online before the date on the summons, and you're good. i pushed mine twice last year without a phone call, just the portal.
honestly the reschedule portal is the way to go but dont sleep on the fact you can also just call them. sometimes the website glitches out if you're trying to pick a date far out. i'd say aim for like march or april, after winter session ends and spring break is over, so you're not stressed mid-semester.
also fyi the court sends you a new summons date within a week or two, so keep an eye on your mail. if you're flying back the same week you reschedule to, that's cutting it close, give yourself a buffer day or two in case flights get delayed. had a buddy who postponed to the day after he landed and it was a mess.
You can also just request a postponement by mail if the online thing gives you trouble, they accept a simple letter with your summons number. Since you're out of state, maybe check if you qualify for a temporary excuse instead, but that's more paperwork than it's worth for a first time. One thing people forget is that rescheduling doesn't mean you're off the hook, they'll just send you a new date, so plan around spring break if you can.

Sunset Beer Co is solid but their taps are the sleeper, not just the fridge. Grab a pour there before you haul cans around, way fresher than anything sitting cold.
Fair call on the rotation, but I'd give yourself a buffer on timing, they tap the new stuff early evening and the good hazy usually kicks by Friday night. If you're driving over, the lot behind the building fills up fast after 6.
yeah the lot's a mess after 6, i usually just park on the side streets off York and walk. way less hassle. good call on the friday thing tho.
