Considering moving in out of LA county. Are there any cheap options to stay overnight once in a while for work?
Unfortunately, my car's transmission blew up and I needed to get a (new to me) used car. It's been a rough year financially… I'm an LA resident. I love my tiny rent controlled studio in Boyle Heights.

My mom lives out of the county (2 hour drive one way in rush hour or 1 hour at off-peak times). I stay with her about 3-4 days a week. My job only requires me to be in office one day technically (though I am a litigation paralegal and things change quickly).
I feel like I'm drowning and like I don't have a dollar to buy anything, just pay bills.
I am considering giving up my apartment (I'm month-to-month) to save myself 1500 a month.
My question is to ask if anyone has discovered any hostel or co-living space hacks in LA for the odd occasion here and there where I may need to work late to prepare for a hearing realty the next morning?
Also: I have friends who live mostly in the South Bay I suppose I could ask to stay with but I don't want them to feel obligated to say yes.
I feel like this can't be an unusual situation especially in a recession year. Any tips you have learned would be greatly appreciated!

One thing the guide doesn't mention is that the Griffith Observatory can get completely overrun on summer weekends, to the point where they close the road to cars. one thing the guide doesnt mention is that the getty center has a free shuttle from the parking structure up to the museum, so you dont have to hike the hill unless you want to. also if you go on a weekday morning the gardens are basically empty and the light is perfect for photos. for a quick bite after, the cafeteria is overpriced but the hot dog stand outside the tram stop has decent cheap snacks
honestly the guide is pretty solid but i think theyre sleeping on the food scene in the san gabriel valley. if you have a car and an afternoon, drive out to monterey park for some of the best chinese food in the country. the soup dumplings at din tai fung are famous for a reason but the real hidden gem is the xiao long bao at mei long village just down the street. way less of a wait and just as good. also for a chill evening that's not downtown, the rooftop at the standard on sunset has a great vibe and you can see
