honestly the switch from visitor to Skilled Worker is what trips people up, you can't apply in-country, so sort sponsorship before your stamp expires.
yeah and the CoS itself is teh real bottleneck, most sponsors take weeks to issue it so start that ball rolling now.
spot on about the in-country bit. worth knowing the 28 day rule too, you can stay while it's pending if u apply before your leave runs out, but overstaying even a day can trigger a ban.
worth adding that the visitor route isnt a permitted switch at all, not just a paperwork headache. youd need to leave, apply from abroad at a visa centre, then re-enter on the new visa. so plan a trip home around it
