Best London aquarium to visit in 2026?

fmd_goodAquarium · #aquarium
thinking of hitting the aquarium again in 2026, is the one by the river still worth the ticket price or should i look elsewhere? went years ago and it felt a bit crowded tbh thinking of hitting the aquarium again in 2026, is the one by the river still worth the ticket price or should i look elsewhere? went years ago and it felt a bit crowded tbh

The SEA LIFE by the river is still worth it if you go at opening on a weekday, but the Horniman's free aquarium in Forest Hill is quieter and honestly better for a calm wander.

Book the 10am slot online, saves a fiver

Worth adding that Hackney's Clissold Park has a tiny free aquarium tucked in the north lodge, though check its limited weekend hours first.

arrow_drop_up 12 arrow_drop_down

that little lodge one is more of a tank setup than a proper aquarium tbh, cute for kids but dont expect much

forest hill is a solid shout but check the opening days before u trek out, it shuts mon & tue i think. also the butterfly house next door is free-ish & worth the extra 20 mins

Image juditha local ·

quiet is underselling it, place is basically empty midweek. bring a fiver for teh cafe upstairs, the view over the city is decent.

ZSL London Zoo, penguin pool counts.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down
Image arabella local ·

yeah penguin pool counts in spirit but honestly the Barbican conservatory has free fish ponds and way fewer kids

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Image violamerkl local ·

Fair, though penguin pool is doing a lot of heavy lifting as an aquarium. If you're counting that, Walthamstow Wetlands has grebes diving and it's free, just bring binoculars.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

grebes are a good shout but honestly the wetlands is more birdwatching than aquarium. if u want actual fish without paying, the pond dipping at the Wetlands centre runs on weekends, nets provided

Vinotheque wine bar worth a visit in 2026?

fmd_goodVinotheque · #wine
visiting london in spring 2026 & staying near bloomsbury, is vinotheque a good spot for a glass of wine or is it more of a bottle shop? also any idea if u need to book visiting london in spring 2026 & staying near bloomsbury, is vinotheque a good spot for a glass of wine or is it more of a bottle shop? also any idea if u need to book

It's a proper sit-down bar as much as a shop, and booking is wise on spring weekends since the handful of tables go fast.

Image juditha local ·

yeah booking definitely helps, and worth knowing they do walk-ins at the bar counter on weeknights if u strike out on a table.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

walk-ins work weeknights but that counter only seats about four so turn up before 6 or you're standing.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image bianca local ·

agreed on booking ahead. the bar counter is small so even midweek it can fill after 6, and they pour by the glass from the open bottles rather than everything on the shelf. worth asking what's open that day

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down
Image arabella local ·

ask what's open before you sit, changes daily

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

that open-bottle thing is why i go, always something odd by the glass you won't find on the shelf

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Spring weekends fill up fast, so book a few days ahead rather than same day.

arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

Book a few days out for sure. they do get booked solid round the weekend. the little bar counter bit is walk-in only tho

arrow_drop_up -1 arrow_drop_down

Image carina local ·

the shop side is still handy if u like a bottle u tried at the bar, they sell most of the by the glass list

honestly the tables are so few that even a quiet tuesday needs a heads up, not just weekends
