the piccadilly one is fine for a sit down with ur mum, cakes are decent but nothing special. if u actually want good afternoon tea nearby i'd do the wolseley on piccadilly instead, bit pricier but the pastries are properly made

Agree on the Wolseley, though book a few weeks ahead cos the afternoon slots go fast and walk ins get turned away.

Yeah booking ahead is essential, I tried a walk in on a Saturday and got nowhere. Worth asking for a booth when you ring, they're quieter and you don't get bumped around by the servers.

Fortnum's at 4pm, quieter than the Piccadilly lot.

Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon, book the 3.30 instead

Caffe Concerto's fine for a quick slice, not a full tea.

Spot on about the pastries at the Wolseley, they're in a different league. One thing worth knowing is the room gets loud once the pre-theatre crowd lands, so an earlier sitting suits a mum-and-daughter catch up better. Also ask about the vegetarian tea when you book, it isn't on the online menu.

Ask for the corner banquette by the window when booking, way quieter than the middle tables.

Best regular pastry meetups in London 2026

I've tried a couple of pop-ups near Sweet Lab on Kingsland Road but nothing stuck. Any regular meetups around North or East London where you can just show up and get to know people?

E5 Bakehouse, Tuesday mornings.

good shout. they've moved it to Wednesdays now though, 8.30 start, and you need to be in the queue by about 8.15 if u want a seat. the sourdough croissant is worth it imo.

tbh I've only ever gone on Saturdays, way quieter. do they still do the cardamom bun or has that changed?

the bakery's upstairs room, first Thursday monthly

is that the one with the folding tables by the window? went once and it was mostly home bakers swapping starter tips, not really a pastry thing. might've been a different night mind.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Image bianca local ·

they also run a friday sourdough swap in the courtyard, bring ur starter & u get a loaf back

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Monday evenings too, 6pm, smaller crowd

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Image lisel local ·

also worth knowing there's a monthly sunday session at their railway arches spot, usually a bigger turnout than the weekday ones

Second this, back room past the till.

Corner table by the pastry fridge, ask for Marco.
