Is The Crown pub worth a visit in 2026?

fmd_goodThe Crown · #tourism #pint
Stopping by The Crown on a trip next month, is it a decent pub for a pint or just a tourist trap? Any tips on when it's less packed? Stopping by The Crown on a trip next month, is it a decent pub for a pint or just a tourist trap? Any tips on when it's less packed?

Which Crown do you mean, there are dozens in London; the one on Great Portland Street is a solid no-frills boozer, quiet before 5pm on weekdays.

The Crown on Blackfriars Road, different beast entirely.

Great Portland Street one, agree, though it fills up after office hours.

Blanc Restaurant in London 2026 worth the splurge?

fmd_goodBlanc Restaurant · #restaurant #dinner #london
Visiting London in 2026 and Blanc Restaurant keeps coming up for a nice dinner. Is it actually worth the price for a special occasion, or should I look elsewhere? Any tips on what to order would help. Visiting London in 2026 and Blanc Restaurant keeps coming up for a nice dinner. Honestly Blanc is lovely but I'd spend that money at Chez Bruce in Wandsworth instead, the lunch set is around 45 and just as special. If u do go Blanc, the tasting menu beats a la carte for value.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

yeah Chez Bruce is the move, tho book weeks ahead cuz the lunch slots go fast.

Blanc's bread service alone is worth the trip, weirdly the best part

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

the cultured butter with sea salt, ask for seconds

Chez Bruce lunch is Tuesday to Saturday only.

their cheese course is the actual sleeper hit

Fair point, but that 45 lunch is Tue-Sat only and the wine list there creeps up fast, so budget closer to 70 a head.

imo skip the tasting menu and order the langoustine starter plus the beef, the wine pairing is where they really sting u.

agreed on the pairing, we just split a bottle of Loire instead and came out way ahead. the beef is a touch under seasoned for me but the pommes purée fixes that. ask for a table upstairs if u want it quieter

Upstairs gets loud after 8, ask for the corner banquette
