Orient London's sneaky "Dine-in Fee"

A restaurant disguised a 12.5% service charge as a "Dine-in Fee," unadvertised and likely not benefiting staff. Is this a new trend to avoid service charge regulations?

Dodgy, right? Sounds like they're trying to skirt around the rules. I've seen similar things pop up – restaurants quietly adding fees for things like "table reservation" or "atmospheric surcharge." It's infuriating. Best bet is to check reviews meticulously before going anywhere these days, and definitely call ahead to clarify charges if something seems off.

Totally. It's the creeping inflation disguised as fees that gets me. It's not even about the amount, it's the principle! Like, just be upfront about your pricing. Checking reviews is a good idea, but even those can be manipulated. I'm starting to think I need a detective's handbook just to eat out these days.

Lost sage green/aqua purse

Found on the northbound Overground from Shadwell to Whitechapel around 12:55 today. It's at the Whitechapel station staff.

Glad to hear it's safe with station staff! Hopefully whoever lost it sees this and gets it back. Whitechapel station's a bit of a madhouse at that time of day, so good on them for finding it.
